AERO WARRIORS TO INVADE 2012 MUSCLE CAR AND CORVETTE NATIONALS
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals has quickly established itself as a truly unique show, devoted to the finest and rarest Muscle Cars, Dealer-built Supercars and Corvettes. Occupying nearly 400,000 square feet of exhibit space in the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, it has become the ultimate destination for both participants and spectators.
One of the keys to the success of the show has been the special Invitational displays. For 2012, the MCACN team have several in store, including one devoted to ultra rare and desirable “Aero Cars.” Inspired by NASCAR racing, these limited production cars were built to meet stringent production requirements calling for similar street versions of the cars people would see on the tracks.
Among these cars are the Ford Talledega, Mercury Cyclone Spoiler and Spoiler II, the Dodge Charger 500 and the wild winged Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird. To see just one of these race inspired automobiles is a treat….to see a row of them is even better!
“We have teamed up with two of the most respected and recognized Aero Car owner/enthusiasts; Jason Thompson and Doug Schellinger,” stated MCACN Managing Member, Bob Ashton. “Jason has been involved with these cars for years, both as an owner and a restorer, and Doug owns the actual Ramo Stott Superbird, and heads up the national Daytona Superbird Auto Club, established in 1975” he said. With credentials like that, you know this is going to be good!
The display will feature more than 30 of the Aero Warriors, both stock and race cars, including several one-off prototypes. To keep things interesting, you will see everything from fully restored Concours quality restorations to all-original and unrestored examples showing a few bumps and bruises. “We even have a Superbird that was used as a police car and a completely unrestored Cyclone Spoiler II that had been hidden from view for many, many years,” Ashton said.
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is known for drawing collectors from across the country and even from outside of the country. The 2011 show drew entries from 27 states and three countries, numbering well over 500 cars.
“We are truly honored to be able to provide the perfect all indoor setting for collectors to share their passion” said Ashton. And passion is an understatement when it comes to not only the owners, but also the many suppliers, restorers and fans of these cars that annually attend this show.
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals will take place November 17-18, 2012 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (greater Chicago), Illinois. Featuring over 500 cars, an all automotive swap meet, several car for sale area’s and a variety of national and local automotive vendors, it is the world’s largest all indoor specialty event devoted to Muscle Cars, Dealer-built Supercars and Corvettes.
