Since our inception in 2009,
Dr. Pete Gimenez, author of the outstanding book
Corvette Racing Legends,
The Story of the L/88 Option Package, has been a
huge supporter of what we do. He has been buying,
selling and restoring Corvettes since the early 70’s, and is
truly a pioneer when it comes to sharing his passion. In
fact, his first Corvette website was launched back in 1995,
long before many of us even knew what the internet was! Dr.
Pete’s first book, a 424 page hardcover, contains an
incredible collection of over 500 photos, many never
published. His intense research reveals something that only
a person that is truly passionate could assemble.
He has had the pleasure of having direct contact and
developing friendships with many of the people who were
there “back in the day”, including Tony DeLorenzo, Gib
Hufstader and many others, and he has assembled facts and
stories right from the sources. When Dr. Pete decided to
take on this project, he was committed to doing something
that had never been done before, and his is truly one of the
finest Corvette books ever published.
For the past several years,
Dr. Pete has joined us at the Muscle Car and
Corvette Nationals show, signing his book, and
talking about the hobby and Corvettes, with our participants
and spectators. This year, he has decided to step things up
a notch by sponsoring and assembling a very
impressive group of notable Corvettes, with an emphasis on
the 45th and 50th Anniversary years of 1965 and 1970. Not
limited to racers, this diversified group will include Dan
McMichael’s Baldwin-Motion Phase III GT, along with
additional unique 1965 and ‘70 models from the Pro
Team Private Reserve, Werner Meier and Ed Foss Collections.
Each of these cars is something incredibly rare and unique,
and each of the owners is a well respected long term
enthusiast, people you really need to meet!
Dr. Pete will be at the show
to also talk about his new book, Corvette
Racing Legends, Volume 2. This one
continues
the original story of
Corvette Racing Legends
into the 21st Century.
This volume highlights Corvette racing from the early 80’s
into the 90’s, and finally into the 21st century with
coverage of the C4 Corvettes, the C5 Corvettes, and the C6
Corvettes. All of the photos are from the personal
collection of Dr. Pete and have never been published. If you
want to learn more about who, how and why, both of these
books are absolute must haves. Believe me, you need
to make a point of meeting Dr. Pete and the group of owners
at the show this year for this very special gathering.
We are truly honored to have Dr. Pete
Gimenez joining us as an Official Sponsor this
year, and we thank him, along with the owners of these great
cars, that once again allow us to “raise the bar” at the
MCACN show. If you are a Corvette
enthusiast, this is an excellent opportunity to meet some of
the true movers and shakers of the Corvette world right at
our show, both past and present. For a preview of Dr. Pete’s
books and a variety of services that he offers, go to his
excellent website;
