POWER TOUR WITH A STOP AT
MAGNUM
RESTORATIONS OPEN HOUSE
Lots of show promoters
talk the talk, but how many walk, (or in this case,
drive!) the walk? Well for the MCACN
team, we live and breathe cars and car stuff each and
every day! So in the interest of good old fashioned fun
and grass roots marketing, several of us are hitting the
highways for the Hot Rod Power Tour. For me, I’ll be
breaking in a brand spankin’ new Magnuson supercharged
2015
Nickey Super Camaro. I know,
I know...it’s a tough job, but somebody has to do
it! Yes, the Hornet passed inspection, but when
Stefano Bimbi, CEO of
Nickey and a
MCACN Official Sponsor and Member
offered up one of his latest creations, how could I
resist?
There certainly is something to be said for nearly 600 horsepower, a fine sound system and air conditioning! In addition to this one, which you’ll see in the Magnuson display, you’ll find Stefano and Beth Bimbi in Beth’s ZL1 convertible Nickey Camaro and additional Nickey clients enjoying the best of the best in Modern Muscle. Last year the Nickey crew launched the Hot Rod Magazine Special Edition Nickey Camaro’s during the Power Tour, so plan on seeing several of those, including one that Hot Rod magazine staffers will be leading the pack with. Be sure to take a close look at all of these cars, as each is different. There is a whole lot more to these cars than just bolting on a supercharger! Each one has a long list of mods inside, outside, underneath and of course...under the hood!

Gerstner- Sneak Peek Car Before Restoration
Speaking of MCACN
Official Sponsors, you certainly
noticed the in progress Sneak Peek 1972 Roadrunner
pictured at top. This is the one that was shown in our
Barn Find/Hidden Gems area a few years
ago, looking...well, kinda rough. This is one of two
1972 Roadrunners built with the GTX package and a 440+6
barrel engine and it is currently owned by
The Brothers Collection. YES...Mother
Mopar really did build build a V-code 440+6
‘Runner in 1972, and here it is! Fully documented with
known history, this car is currently undergoing a full
restoration to as new by MCACN Official Sponsor
Magnum Auto Restorations,
Inc.
in LaSalle, Illinois. You’ll remember the Magnum
crew, as they sponsored our Hemi 50th Anniversary
display last year and unveiled a show stopping Limelight
426 Hemi Superbird. This year they are stepping up as a
Platinum level sponsor, and they will be
unveiling this car, fully restored and looking
like it just left the factory. Oh...and did I mention
this is also a factory electric sunroof car?
Whew!
If you would like to see
the progress of this car and some other prime Mopars,
both complete and in progress, Mark Sekula, Owner of
Magnum Auto Restorations, Inc.
would like to extend a personal invitation to
you to join him for their Open House, Sunday, June 6,
from 10 am – 2 pm. Their shop is located just a few
miles from the Hot Rod Power Tour route on the way to
Champaign, IL. from Madison, WI. so make a point of
checking them out. I can assure you...it is worth the
stop, no matter what brand you prefer! The address is 11
Gunia Dr., LaSalle, IL. and we’ll be stopping by, so
hope to see you there.
You will also find
another MCACN Member, Charley Lillard, out there mixing
it up in his Mark Steilow built Pro Touring ‘69 Camaro
dubbed “Hellfire”. This beast is the cover and feature
car for a brand new magazine called
Pro Touring, which just hit the
stands. Look for the magazine now to see what state
of the art means, and look for Charley and this car
during Power Tour. Now let me warn you...keeping up with
Charley on the road will be a challenge, so best to
check out his ride at one of the stops! Charley has been
on all of the Power Tours as a Long Hauler, and believe
me, he likes to have fun, so be sure to say HI to him
and have a few laughs.
So that is the latest
from the MCACN team. We are now accepting applications
for
cars, muscle bicycles and automotive (only) related
vendors. Even though it may be hard to be thinking about
November, keep in mind that we are filling at a rate
faster than ever, so don’t hesitate to sign up now. I am
also in the process of putting together our new MCACN 72
page full color magazine, and if you aren’t
officially registered, you won’t be in it! Sign up
here to get your FREE
copy.
