MCACN 2016 Sneak Peek*
1964 Corvette

2016 MCACN Entry
This week among the 3,000 or so cars crossing the
block in
Kissimmee at the huge Mecum auction, there are three
that
really stand out. Certainly among the most
valuable and sought after examples of American muscle ever produced,
you know what I’m talking about! The 1970 Sublime 426
Hemi
Challenger R/T convertible, the 1970 Hemi ‘cuda
convertible in
Lemon Twist along with the Alpine White ‘71 Hemi ‘cuda
convertible are certainly going to be the talk of the
muscle
car world for quite some time. All eyes will be on
these three
cars, and I truly believe records will again be set.
Of
course, we were truly honored to have these three
cars, along
with 24 additional Hemi E-body convertibles at the
recent
Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show. What a sight
to see!
This is certainly a rare opportunity, not only to buy
one of
these cars, but to see them all in one place.
With that being said, have you ever wondered what the story is
behind these cars? Who was it that actually spent Cadillac
money on a Dodge or Plymouth back in the day? Why would
someone also check the convertible box when everyone knows a
Hemi was built to move, and who would need all that extra
weight? And then there was the price of the 426 Hemi option;
nearly a third of the base cost of the entire car!
When we were working on assembling the incredible
display of these cars for MCACN, I did a lot of
research. I was able to talk to the owners, many who are
acknowledged experts on these cars. The stories that
were revealed are pretty amazing, and incredibly
interesting. A decision was made to create a
commemorative book for the owners of these cars, sort of
a memento to put as much of the unknown information,
(gathered right from the sources) in one place. "In Search of the Holy Grail"
was born, the title suggested by Tom Lembeck. Calls were made, trips
were planned and photos were taken. Well...somebody had to do
it! Once into the process, our good friend and long time MCACN
supporter Wade Ogle suggested we do a slightly larger run and
offer them to interested enthusiasts. The decision was made to
do an extremely short run of 250 books. Just 200 would be
offered for sale to the general public, and we gifted the
first 50 to the owners and contributors. About a week before
the show, we allowed pre-orders. Within hours, nearly half of
the run was accounted for, so we decided to stop pre-orders to
make sure we had enough to sell at the show. Sales at the show
were brisk, but after getting the trailers unloaded, we found
we have a few more remaining books to offer to you. This book
is an 11 x 8” 72 page all color hardcover. It has individual
stories on each and every one of the 27 cars that were on
display at the MCACN show. This is not a technical book with
facts and figures, as that information is readily available.
What you will read are many stories never before told, telling
you about who bought these cars, what they did with them, and
in many cases why. Some of the stories have been told, but
many are being shared for the very first time. The best part
is, the information was gathered directly from many of the
owners, both current and previous.
It was truly an honor to be able to be a part of American
Muscle Car history, and adding a new chapter to the many
stories. If you would like to get your very own copy of "In
Search of the Holy Grail" for your collection, the remaining
books are being offered at $100.00 each plus shipping. When
they are gone they are gone, and we will not be doing a second
run, making this a true Limited Edition. This is sure to be a
sought after collectible for any Muscle Car enthusiast, so
don’t hesitate to reserve your copy now before they are gone.
