POPULAR MCACN
BARN FINDS AND HIDDEN GEMS RETURNS WITH WHOLE
NEW GROUP!
The Muscle Car and
Corvette Nationals show has quickly established a
reputation as the place to show the best of
the best and the rarest of the rare. And of course, we
also are the place for the “Premier Unveilings” that
kick off the show when we open to the public Saturday
morning. In 2015, we played host to a record setting
fifteen Premier Unveilings, and each and every one was
a significant car, and the stories and history are
truly amazing. More on that in the coming weeks...
Today we would like to
talk about another area of the MCACN show
that is also unique to our event, and clearly one of
the most popular and flat out fun features. We are
talking about our
Barn Find & Hidden Gems
section, hosted by the Automotive Archeologist,
Ryan Brutt. Now, if you have been to our show,
you know this is a hot spot, jam packed with cool and
unusual cars (and even the occasional truck!) and lots
of people. The stories that come out of this corner of
the show are always amazing. The vehicles that we
accept for this section are not your typical abandoned
projects or forgotten beaters...No Sir-ee!
Each and every one is either a rare example of
American Muscle or it has an amazing story and
history. We have hosted a 1971 GTO Judge convertible
that was thought to be long lost, a Pilot Hemi
Roadrunner, several Boss 429’s, including the wild Don
Nicholson Boss ‘9 Cougar that Ed Meyer brought out,
several very real Yenko’s and COPO’s and even a very
historical 1955 Chevy Station Wagon, currently owned
by Mopar aficionado, MCACN Sponsor and long time
supporter of our show,
Frank Badalson, (really!) That
one is the actual car owned and driven by Lee
Harvey Oswald. Yep...certainly some unexpected
historical significance there!

Barn Finds
This year we are
pleased to again be off and running with this special
section. Yes...others may have a few Barn Finds at
their shows, but at MCACN you will see as many as
25-30 of them all together, and again let me
emphasize...these aren’t just old average beaters!
We have already
accepted several unique entries, and they are good
ones. AMC will be well represented with a real-deal
401, 4-speed with a/c Javelin/AMX and a wild vintage
Trans Am raced Camaro. The above Buick is another
rarity; a real-deal documented 1972 Stage 1, G.S., one
of just 728 produced. Think about; in ‘72 the writing
was on the wall, and there weren’t very many people
checking the box that got you the 455 cubic inch,
Stage 1 under the hood, one of the last true muscle
car drivetrains. And this one was just pulled out into
the daylight after nearly 25 years of storage.
Whew...can’t wait to see it up close and in person!
This is a sampling of
what you’ll see this year at the Muscle Car and
Corvette Nationals show. And here is another neat
fact; it seems that this section has done more than
just get people to drag out their long forgotten
muscle. Remember that gorgeous 1972 440+6 sunroof
equipped Roadrunner/GTX that the
Magnum Restorations
crew unveiled last November, from
The Brothers
Collection? Well that one was in our Barn Finds area
back in 2012, after being stashed for many years. And
we know of another couple of past
participants, Dave and Kelly Molnar from Texas,
(yes...that Kelly!) who are hard at work restoring
their M-Code 69.5 Super Bee that they showed in Barn
Finds in 2014, which will be Unveiled fresh as new in
2017!

So...if you have a Barn
Find or Hidden Gem that needs to come out and play,
please consider joining us this year. As stated, this
is not for your abandoned average project car, it is
for significant or rare muscle, with the
occasional exception for something that is just flat
out cool or unusual, like the ‘55 mentioned. Send us
pictures, history and information for consideration to
bashton426@gmail.com
Of course, you know
what a “Barn Find” is, but what about a Hidden
Gem? Well, that may be a car that isn’t fresh or
mint, but is significant, rare, or maybe an unrestored
original with some bumps and bruises. It doesn’t have
to run, (we’ll help you unload it and get it set up!)
It may even be a Day2 car with blistered old
metalflake paint or maybe even something like the wild
Pro-Street ‘69 Camaro that was shown last year,
dressed as a Z/28, but actually a very real
427 Yenko Super Camaro! Let us know what you have, as
I can guarantee, you will have a blast and there is a
very good chance that you may stir up some memories
from folks that remember your car that help add to the
history.
We are now
accepting applications for cars,
muscle bicycles and
also for automotive (only) vendors.
We will again fill
nearly 400,000 square feet of exhibit space at the
beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in
Rosemont, (suburban Chicago), Illinois.
Although it
may seem like
it is a long
way off, we always fill (as in sell out)
all area’s of
our show well in advance, and in some cases months
ahead of the show. (THANKS!)
The show will take
place Saturday, November 19, from 9 am – 9 pm, and
Sunday, November 20, from 9 am – 5 pm. Title Sponsor;
Mecum Auctions.
and to book your room at one
of our
FIVE Official Host Hotels,
all offering special rates
and extra perks for our MCACN participants and
spectators.
Thanks for your
continued support, and please help us spread the word
by sharing this e-mail* and also clicking “like” on our
facebook page, which I update nearly every day.
BTW; keep an eye out
for the next issue of Muscle Car Review magazine for a
full feature specifically devoted to the Muscle Car
and Corvette Nationals 2015 Barn Fund and Hidden Gems
section!
