SPOTLIGHT MCACN
If you are
a car guy like me, nothing can replace the good old
print magazine. Sure...online coverage is cool and
allows instant access, but being able to sit down in
your favorite chair, (aka the “big chair” for me!) and
spending some time unwinding with your favorite car
magazine is something special. Call it nostalgia if you
like, but being able to touch and feel the pages and
read about stuff you may not have access to otherwise
simply can not be duplicated online. And that is what we
are here to talk about today. Here at the Muscle Car and
Corvette Nationals, we have been fortunate to receive
unprecedented
coverage in a wide variety of print magazines. Each year
the coverage expands, and I have to say this is one of
the most rewarding aspects of my job. Seeing so many of
our participants receiving accolades for all the hard
work and dedication to our hobby, and being able to
re-live the show, if even for a few minutes is pretty
cool.
Did you
know our website has a designated area that has nearly
100 feature articles about the MCACN show? You can see
the evolution and hopefully, see your own car or maybe
the car of your dreams in the coverage that dates back
to our inception in 2009. Indeed,
we have
hundreds of pages of show coverage in articles linked to
our website!
V8
PASSION;
This one
puts us into the
international coverage world.
V8 Passion
comes out of
Quebec and is published by our good friend Fabrice Monceaux. I
met Fabrice and his awesome photographer Kiki Dubois in
Toronto in
the early days of MCACN. I was showing a gorgeous ‘69
Rally Green 427 COPO Camaro for Stefano Bimbi of
Nickey Performance.
Fabrice and Kiki allowed me to tell them all about what
we were doing in Chicagoland, and they accepted my
invitation to join us. Now, the
V8 Passion
team has been with us every year since, and they have
done some truly outstanding coverage. This year
photographer B. Lavigne captured the essence of the show
with some great photos. To see this feature

au contraire!” Thanks
V8 Passion;
you guys are the best!

VETTE;
This time our good friends Geoff Stunkard and Official
MCACN EmCee Dennis Pittsenbarger covered the show for
VETTE
magazine. This cool feature is in the June
issue and opens with an awesome shot of
Dr. Pete Gimenez
Corvette
Legends Invitational
display and the row
of L/88’s that Kevin Mackay coordinated. Whew...what a
lineup! Here’s a quote;
“At the MCACN show, something you see as the cream of
the crop at any other car show might just be mundane,
but that’s what makes the MCACN so great. If you want to
see the best of the best I can’t recommend this show
enough.” Thanks Dennis and Geoff!

PONCHO
PERFECTION;
This one
holds a special place in my heart for several reasons.
First, because publisher Don Keefe and I go back many
years, and especially because he launched his new
venture right at our show. Don has been involved in the
hobby for years with a special passion for Pontiacs.
Saying Don is passionate about our hobby is truly an
understatement, and he has done an outstanding job with
this new venture. The magazine is online and in print,
so get on board and sign up now so that you don’t miss
anything. In the
March issue, you’ll find page after
page filled with great shots of many of the prime
Pontiacs that were at the MCACN show. Another reason is
that much of the coverage was captured by MCACN
staffer/photographer Tim Costello. I introduced Tim to
Don, and now he is working as one of Don’s staff
photographers. Add that to his work at
Mopar Collectors Guide and many other magazines, not to
mention all the “special assignments” we give him, and
Tim is making his mark!

This
represents just a few of the many magazine features we
have scored this year. Add that to the others dating
back to 2009, and I have to say we must be one of the
most covered muscle car events in the world! We truly
appreciate the continued support from the many
magazines, especially considering what a challenge it is
to cover an indoor show.

Next week;
we gear up to spread the word about our “Show within a
Show” featuring Muscle Bicycles, at the huge
Ann
Arbor/Saline (Michigan) Bike show.
The Muscle
Car and Corvette Nationals is the world’s largest all
indoor specialty show devoted to Muscle Cars,
Dealer-built Supercars and the finest and rarest
Corvettes. We will again fill nearly 400,000 square feet
of exhibit space at the beautiful Donald E. Stephens
Convention Center in Rosemont, (suburban Chicago),
Illinois, just minutes away from the Chicago O’Hare
Airport. You will see over 500 prime collector cars,
nearly 100 Muscle Bicycles and the finest automotive
related (only) vendors from across the country and
around the corner.
