The LAST Grand National To Be Featured at MCACN
Over the years at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, we have had the honor of hosting some very significant firsts and lasts from the Muscle Car world. This year is no exception, and the list of firsts and lasts is the most extensive to date. Today we want to tell you about one that is truly a significant piece of Muscle Car history. The 80’s are certainly not thought of as the best years for American Muscle, but there were several cars that certainly left their mark. The Buick turbocharged T-Types and Grand Nationals are at the top of the list, and gave us all some hope. With the black out trim and a high winding Turbocharged V6, the GN certainly is a prime Muscle Machine. When introduced, the national media took notice and in ‘84, the sleek black screamers really took off. Grand Nationals have it all; comfort, handling, style and incredible performance. If you’ve ever driven one, you know what I mean and if you haven’t, you will be surprised! Produced from 83-87, they are already sought after collectibles.
With that being said, I am thrilled to announce we will be hosting an amazing display featuring the very last GN. This car was purchased by a performance minded GM dealer named Bob Colvin in Louisiana who took delivery right off of the Pontiac, Michigan assembly line on December 11, 1987. The entire process was documented and they even did an official documentary titled "Black Air" that chronicled the car and the event. Mr. Colvin built a special addition to his home specifically for this car and all of the related memorabilia. He has owned this car since the day it left the line, and it has been shown just three times since. We are truly honored to be able to host such a significant piece of American Muscle Car history, and the family that took delivery. You will be able to hear the whole story right from the source including how he obtained this car. He actually did not know this was the very last Grand National until the day he arrived to take delivery! This car is a true time capsule and Mr. Colvin’s collection of related goodies is truly a sight to see.

In addition to this amazing GN, we will have a very special display of General Motors G-Bodies from 1983-1987. This includes a one-off Hurst prototype, a gorgeous 83 Hurst/Olds and one of the nicest Monte Carlo SS’s you will ever see. The 80’s may not have been the hey-day of muscle, but there certainly were some awesome cars being built!
