Full Speed Ahead for MCACN, and Hopefully For YOUR Project Too!

Remaining positive among the current situation is a real challenge, even for an eternal optimist like me. With that being said, let me say we are proceeding full speed ahead for the upcoming Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, November 21-22. Of course, none of us really know how this will play out, but with any luck and with all of us working together to do what we have to do, by November we will to be able to once again produce a World Class Event, devoted to the finest and rarest Muscle Cars and Corvettes.

Let's look at one of the positive aspects. Think about all of the times you thought or said "if I only had a few more hours or days to spend in the shop or garage!" Well, for many of us, that is exactly what we now have. Let's use this new found time to research, disassemble, detail, paint, build and assemble!

Nearly all of the parts suppliers are shipping daily, and in my area the weather is starting to break, (albeit late!). With the new "social distancing" what better way to follow the recommendations of the CDC than to get out in the garage and wrench. And this is a great time to show your support for those who support what we do at MCACN; Our Official Sponsors!

We have been getting updates on all kinds of cars that are currently undergoing restoration in preparation for MCACN. Our restoration shop sponsors are jammed with some of the coolest cars you will ever see, and many are well into their Premier Unveiling projects. And speaking of Unveilings, again we are gearing up for a great field. We have sold out of spots for Mopars and Oldsmobiles, and we also have Ford, Buick and Pontiac represented. If you have a candidate for Premier Unveiling, please let me know asap as we have just a few more openings available. Remember, to qualify for an Unveiling spot, the car must be shown for the very first time anywhere, which means it can not be shown completed in person or online. It must be a real-deal documented car, have some great history and be among the best of the best.

Some Shows Reschedule and On Track to Proceed; It is really sad to hear of the various cancellations. There are however, quite a few of our favorites that are still on track to proceed. This includes the Carlisle Ford, Chevy, Mopar and Corvette Events along with the rescheduled Spring Carlisle swap, which is now June 17-20, the Concours d'Elegance of America at St. John July 25, and the Mopar Nationals August 6-8. Mecum has rescheduled Dana Mecum's Spring Classic, with the new dates of June 23-28. As of today, the huge Eddie Vannoy Collection Auction, June 3-7 and the Davenport Auction, June 17-20, are on schedule. And speaking of the Eddie Vannoy Collection, the NBC/SN Television special I had the honor of participating in will be on again, playing Saturday, May 2 at 4:30, with another must see episode preceding it at 4:00 highlighting the incredible John Atzbach Shelby Collection that will be crossing the block at Indy. To see the complete schedule of Mecum Auction related shows on NBC/SN, click here.

Bloomington Gold: Guy Larsen will be announcing the new September dates for the Bloomington Gold Corvette event in Indy. We are anxious to return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for this must do, must see event. Be sure to watch the Bloomington Gold website for updates and an announcement of the new dates.

Pictures Needed! We covered this a while back, but I want to put the call out again. It really is amazing how many of our participants with truly outstanding cars simply don't have any decent pictures of their "babies." Now that the weather is getting better, please send me some nice, clear and fresh pictures of the car you will be showing. I have started work on our new 84 page magazine, and we use ONLY cars from our show in our promotional efforts. This includes our FREE magazine, print and web ads, flyers, postcards, facebook posts, posters and so much more. Please help us spread the word to tell what MCACN is all about. If we have already received your entry, (and we have received a lot!), don't hesitate to send me more pictures. Front and rear 3/4 views with the doors and hoods closed are best. Send directly to me at bashton426@gmail.com

FACEBOOK; For many of us, Facebook is a means of communication. With all the arguing and negativity that is on there, please help me offer a diversion with your MCACN related stories and pictures. I post something nearly every day, and believe me, it is NEVER political or negative!

THIS TOO SHALL PASS! This is something my Mother used to say to me whenever I was faced with a challenge or some sort of adversity. I truly believe this is true, even when I don't necessarily like some of the things we need to do to get through it. We WILL get through this, and when we do, we will all be ready to once again get together, share stories, see old friends, make new ones and enjoy life. I also believe that we are getting closer to that time each and every day!

Be safe, be thoughtful and appreciate!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to
everyone affected by the Covid Crisis in any way.
