Taking Our Corvette Legends Invitational Display to the Next Level
By now if you are a "Corvette Guy" or girl, you know about the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Triple Diamond gallery and competition, Sponsored by Corvette Central. We had our largest field of contenders ever in 2021, and the enthusiasm continues to grow for this popular feature.
But this is only one of our Corvette specific features, as we also have our Corvette Legends Invitational, Presented by Dr. Pete Gimenez. This special display changes every year, and this year we have something really special for you.
Any C2 Corvette is neat, but at the top of the pecking order are the ultra rare N03 "Tankers" that were produced from 1963-1967. With Zora Arkus-Duntov at the helm, these purpose built cars were among the most competitive track ready cars ever offered by Chevrolet. With a variety of performance enhancements, adding the N03 option gave you a 36 gallon fuel tank, allowing extended runs out on the track. Launched in 1963 as part of the Z06 package, it also included the 360 horsepower fuel injected 327 engine, a 4-speed transmission backed by a Posi-Traction rear end, a vacuum assisted dual circuit master cylinder, heavy duty brake drums with metallic brake linings, a heavy duty front stabilizer bar, heavy duty springs and shocks and aluminum knock-off wheels. Not for the faint of heart, a mere 63 Z06 coupes were built. Of course, these would end up in the hands of some pretty capable racers! They went on to make their mark at Sebring, LeMans and Riverside to name a few. Yes...people took notice, especially the competition! Today, the N03 Tankers are among the rarest and most sought after C2 Corvettes ever made. The N03 big tank option would continue for 1964 with just 38 built. In 1965 41 were built, while '66 saw an increase to 66 built. For the final year with the new C3 in the works, just 2 were built, as they only had two 36 gallon tanks remaining.
We heard about Dr. Mike Johnson several years ago from several of our Judges. When we heard he had assembled a complete collection, consisting of SEVEN Tankers covering every year of production, we knew what we had to do. The invitation was extended and I am thrilled to announce Dr. Johnson will be joining us from New Mexico with SIX of these incredible Corvettes, (that is what fits into a Reliable Carriers truck!) one from each year of N03 production. We often talk about spotlighting the "Best of the Best" and the "Rarest of the Rare" and that is exactly what we have here. We are truly honored to be able to share this collection with you when we return to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (Suburban Chicago), Illinois November 19-20. These cars truly are Corvette Legends, and being able to tell the stories of these historical cars will certainly be a lot of fun. Seriously...seeing even one of these cars up close and in person is pretty neat, so imagine an entire row, side by side! Special Thanks go out to Dr. Johnson for joining us; we can't wait!

Priority is always given to rarely, if ever, shown vehicles and our emphasis is on factory stock Muscle Cars and prime Corvettes.

Same space spots are held for our previous vendors until 4-1-22, at which time remaining spots are sold and assigned as received.
