Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race Action This Week
Every year at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals our good friend Donny Brass assembles not only a great group of cars, but a great group of enthusiasts. You see, while many of the cars that you see at MCACN are considered "trailer queens", what Donny puts together is far from that.
The Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags is an annual event that takes place in Stanton Michigan at the cool Mid Michigan Motorplex. While every car in our Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags display every year is show worthy and many are national award winners, the owners actually use them exactly as intended. That means smokey burn-outs, slamming gears and all kinds of side by side action. Led by Dan and Dennis Jensen, (two of our MCACN Judges) along with Lyndon Hughes, these guys make sure everyone has fun, whether you are a participant or a spectator. Hopefully you have seen the coverage in Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine, (and they'll be there again this year) but nothing is better than seeing these cars in action in person. This is kind of like putting the MCACN show on the track.

Activities kick off Thursday, September 15, and the real action starts Friday with qualifying and non stop racing all day Saturday. This has even become an Ashton Three-Generation Tradition, as Ian and my Granddaughter Kater join me at the track. What we like best is that this is an open pit gathering, and everyone is always willing to lend a hand or a tool. Kind of like the old days, and you won't see any of the high-tech gizmos and gadgets since the cars must be as close to factory stock as possible, right down to the skinny bias-ply tires! REAL factory Muscle running heads up and having a blast; that is what it's all about.

Muscle BICYCLES and More Sunday: Another awesome event that is taking place this Sunday, September 18, is the annual Royal Oak, Michigan Bicycle swap. While this isn't as big as the huge Ann Arbor (now Monroe) Michigan swap, it is a whole lot of fun. The weather forecast looks great and you know I'll be there. Gary Wolde of Koolestuff, our Official Sponsor of our Muscle Bike and our Mini Bike "Shows Within the Show" at MCACN will be coming in from North Carolina with some really neat bikes and some great parts, so plan on seeing him too. Mecum Auctions at Elmers Auto and Toy Museum: This will be another one for the record books. JUDGING: Speaking of sold out...we are close to being sold out for our Concours STOCK judging categories. We are committed to maintaining the utmost integrity in our Judging, and many of our classes are already full. If you want to have your car judged and have not submitted your application, please do it now. We already have well over 400 cars officially registered. There are openings for our Corvette Central Triple Diamond, for one Milestone Mopar and we have openings for most Super Street categories. Please email for latest status updates on Vintage and Pinnacle Certification or to "Pre-Qualify" for any judging or for acceptance. Once we are sold out, no judging orders or upgrades are possible. ALL Orders for judging close on Oct 1, 2022 to allow time to hire appropriate judges and order awards.*
