Blue Oval Car Barn Steps Up as New Official Sponsor!
To say that Finley Ledbetter loves American Muscle, especially Mustangs and Shelbys would be an understatement. Perhaps you remember the lineup that featured FOUR Grabber Blue Boss Mustangs a few years back or the many prime Mustangs Finley has shown, direct from his Blue Oval Car Barn in Texas.
His collection is always expanding and he enjoys buying, selling, restoring and more than anything rescuing cars that many may overlook. This year Finley is stepping up as our Official Sponsor of the Pinnacle Judging program, which is for the best of the best Mustangs, Shelbys and Cougars...but that's not all.
While Finley has shown several Pinnacle award winning Boss Mustangs and the very first Cougar to earn Pinnacle status, he loves to actually drive his cars. And so, this year we will see a really cool SHOW and GO display. So what exactly is a SHOW and GO display? Well.. pull up your chair and allow us to explain. The SHOW portion will spotlight a freshly restored 1967 Shelby GT500 that Blue Oval Car Barn has restored to MCA Concours Gold status, while the GO portion is a nearly matching '67 Shelby GT500 built as a street performer, with all of the goodies including a hot 427 side-oiler, exactly as he would have built back in '67, along with lower rear gears and hotter exhaust, to name a few of the mods. Now for the purists, Finley will also display the original 428 Police Interceptor engine that was originally installed in this car. Now that is some cool stuff!
While Blue Oval Car Barn specializes in 1971 and 1972 Mustangs, Finley has been involved in over 50 restorations, acquisitions, inspections and sales. He currently owns about 60 high-performance cars including one of the largest collections of 1971 Mustangs in the nation. Boss Nationals THIS WEEK! And speaking of all things Mustang, this is another one of those weeks where we wish we could be in two places at once. The BOSS Nationals returns to East Moline, Illinois, July 17-19. We had a blast out there and let me say Finley along with Rick Ybarra do an outstanding job. With an indoor setting, you will see some of the finest Mustangs, Shelbys and other high performance Fords. A nice, low key casual setting and I am happy to say MCACN Pinnacle Judges Bob Perkins, Rick Campbell and Scott Skalitsky will be there to represent MCACN. (Thanks Guys!). CMC Belvidere 34th Mopar Happening Saturday & Sunday, July 19-20th: We love tradition and we are fortunate to have quite a few of the Chicagoland Mopar Connection club members as MCACN staff members and Judges. In fact, Diane Schmeling, who heads up this event, works remotely with Vicki all year round and at our show in the office, and Roger heads up our Mopar Alley display, is a spotter during move in at MCACN and judges with us at MCACN. So Saturday the emphasis is on Modern Muscle and also the Dodge Charger and swappers set up. Sunday is the big day and we have seen over 500 cars in the past of all generations. They have a cool swap meet, a car for sale area and some indoor vendors along with a variety of food vendors. We will be set up in our usual spot inside and once again, offering some MCACN merch "Super Specials" with past event T-shirts in sizes Small all the way up to 3xl for just $10. We have a VERY limited amount of MCACN Auto World 1/64th scale die cast Official Event SUPERBIRDS, but they are going fast and when they're gone they are gone! This is a true Limited Edition with just 1,536 produced. We are completely sold out of the Challenger T/A's and the 440-6 pack Super Bees so don't miss your chance on the Superbirds! Note; we will also bring along some of the Royal Bobcat GTO's and Mustang Mach I's, so get 'em while you can!
