THE BEST OF THE BEST FROM THE CORVETTE WORLD AT MCACN
While some may argue that a Corvette isn't a "Muscle Car" we tend to disagree. Sure, not all Corvettes are Muscle Cars, but there are certainly plenty that are! Consider the mighty L88's, Z06's and ZR1's (both past and present) and of course, the ZL1's. Now tell me those aren't true Muscle Cars!
We have some of the finest examples joining us this year, and while they may not all be muscular, there are certainly plenty that are. Today we would like to tell you about one of our Corvette related displays featuring three very special cars. Joining us from New Jersey for the very first time, Rick Barrack owns a Trifecta that must be seen.
1965 was a big year for the Corvette; the new 396 Mark IV big-block engine was added to the option list, as were 4-wheel disc brakes. In '65, approximately 749 Big Block Corvette Coupes were produced.
Among them, these are three of the most unrestored, factory-original, and meticulously preserved examples of the limited-production 396 Big Block Corvettes known to exist today. Rarely seen individually and never seen in public view as a collection. And that's just the beginning. The first, a Nickey Chevrolet sold early GM engineering car is one of only two known to exist. This one may be the ultimate original, unrestored example extant. The second has strong ties to an NHRA Hall of Fame engine builder and was cherished by the inventor of heads-up display technology used in commercial aircraft. Rick calls this one "The Corvette That Never Needed Saving." The third is being publicly shown for the very first time in 60 years. Yet another unrestored survivor, it embodies the purist definition of a Survivor; timeless, untouched and beyond the need for documentation.
So no matter what your preference is brand-wise, there are always some cars that must be seen at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, and believe me, these are three of them. When you add in the 600+ others that are joining us from across the country and Canada, we can not emphasize the need to join us in person when we return to the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (SUBURBAN Chicago area) Illinois, just minutes from the O'Hare airport. We really do have something for everyone who is into this hobby, young or old.
