MECUM KANSAS CITY, MUSCLE CARS AT THE STRIP AND AMELIA ISLAND CONCOURS
Throughout the year there are countless events that you can attend. Some are decent, some are great and some are absolute Must Do’s, like the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals! If you haven’t made plans already to attend the Mecum Kansas City and Houston Auctions, we would like to tell you about two other events that I consider among the best, and well worth attending.
AMELIA ISLAND CONCOURS d’ELEGANCE, FLORIDA, March 11-13
Many of you know that in addition to my real job as Managing Member of the MCACN show, I am also highly involved in two outstanding events in the Detroit area; the EyesOn Design show in Grosse Pointe Shores, held annually on Fathers Day, and the Concours d’Elegance of America, (formerly known as the Meadowbrook Concours) held the last weekend of July. I coordinate the Muscle Car groups for both of these events, and also wear plenty of other hats throughout these weekends. So what does that have to do with the Amelia Island Concours? Well, being a part of these two prestigious Detroit area events, I know what it takes to produce a truly world class event, and that is exactly what the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance is. Many past MCACN participants have had the honor of showing vehicles there, and I know that several will be showing this year. Past MCACN Featured Artist David Snyder will be there in space #50 displaying his latest art also. Held on the grounds of the Golf Club of Amelia Island at Summer Beach, it is a beautiful setting. You will see some of the rarest and most desirable collector cars and motorcycles from the brass era on to modern day exotic supercars. True sensory overload and an outstanding place to shoot photos. In addition to the actual Concours event on Sunday, there is a wide variety of related activities all week. Founder Bill Warner and his team do a truly outstanding job and as I stated earlier, this event is a Must Do for anyone who is reading this. Oh...and here’s a little hint about next years Amelia Island Concours; our good friends and long time MCACN participant/supporters Brian and Samantha Styles are hard at work on a very special display for the 2017 Amelia Island Concours, celebrating the anniversary of Shelby’s GT-500! MUSCLE CARS AT THE STRIP in Las Vegas, March 18-20 ;
Yes...that says Muscle Cars at the Strip. Formerly known as Mopars at the Strip, our friend Phil Painter paid me a high compliment when he told me the MCACN show inspired him to expand the formerly all Mopar event to include all makes and models of factory muscle. This event, which takes place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway has it all. A show, a swap meet, a manufacturers midway and plenty of racing. And as if that isn’t enough, they also invade the Cannery Hotel and Casino right on the strip for a full on Rock concert after the days events wrap up on Saturday. So the big news this year for Phil and his team is the expansion with designated area’s for GM and Ford added to the Mopar sections. This includes both the show and the swap area’s. Much like the MCACN show, if it represents American Muscle, no matter what the brand, you are welcome. For spectators, this means a whole lot more to see and do.
We wish the best of luck to Bill Warner and Phil Painter and their fine crews. I know that both of these will continue to be outstanding events that we all need to attend each and every year.
MCACN ENTRY; Applications are now being accepted for prime American Muscle Cars and Muscle Bicycles, and also automotive related (only) vendors. The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show will take place Saturday, November 19, from 9 am – 9 pm and Sunday, November 20, from 9 am – 5 pm. Our 8th annual event, we will again fill nearly 400,000 square feet of exhibit space at the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (suburban Chicago), Illinois, just minutes from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. We have secured great rates and special perks at FIVE area hotels for our participants and spectators, with direct booking links here; http://mcacn.com/hotels.htm
