RACER BOBBY UNSER TO APPEAR AT MCACN!
This weekend we
celebrate the 100th running of the Indy 500 with a
very exciting announcement. In the world of motorsports, the name Unser is at the top of the
list. The Unser family name is instantly
recognized in a wide variety of motorsports. Bobby
Unser is
the brother of
Al Unser,
Jerry Unser
and
Louis Unser,
the father of
Robby Unser,
and the uncle of
Al Unser, Jr.
and
Johnny Unser.
Bobby is one of ten drivers to win the
Indianapolis 500
three or more times, and one of only two to have
won the 500 in three different decades (1968, 75,
81). Bobby also holds records in Sprint Car, IROC
and at the Bonneville Salt Flats and he has the
distinct honor of winning the Pikes Peak Hill
Climb an unprecedented 13 times! And that is
where the MCACN comes in...
We are pleased to announce Bobby
Unser will be joining us at the MCACN show this
year. You see, each year we have the honor of
hosting a variety of vehicles from The Brothers
Collection. When we were discussing what would be
shown this year, I found out that they own one of
the most significant cars ever to run at Pike Peak,
and back in 1969, Ford hired Bobby Unser to race it.
This Torino was specifically built for Pikes Peak and
it set a record in 1969 that held for 7 years! It still has the
BOSS 429 engine under the hood and is exactly as it
was when raced. After running it was put in
the Pikes Peak museum for several years then was
shipped back to Bill Stroppe and stored away for
several more years. It has remained untouched and
original, right down to the original paint, motor,
and even the Good Year
Pikes Peak special tires are with the car!
We even hear there is a pair of racing
gloves stashed inside,
and we’re going to find
out if they fit Mr. Unser!
Once again, thanks to The Brothers Collection, we are pleased to add another chapter to the Muscle Car history books when we welcome Bobby Unser to our show. Bobby will be appearing Sunday, November 20, right next to this incredible machine. Our friends from V8TV will be taping a full interview with Bobby Unser right at our show, and you can be a part of the action!
