We all know in the world of "reality" TV and YouTube shows, there is a lot of, well...not so real stuff going on out there. Rest assured, the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show will never be the place to see wrestlers, soap-opera "stars", football players or even hokey reality car show people, unless they are indeed real car people!. If they argue, toss wrenches around and work against crazy deadlines you simply won't find them at MCACN.
Several years ago while on the Hot Rod Power Tour, I met Derek Bieri and his family. Driving a rather nondescript big old white Cadillac, Derek, with the kiddos in the back, had already established quite a fan base with his YouTube channel. We chatted briefly, I met his wife Jessica and quickly learned that he is a "real" car guy that likes to have fun. Back in 2018, he decided his "regular" job in an office, while successful, wasn't allowing him to pursue his real passion, which is bringing long forgotten and often neglected cars and trucks back to life, under the Vice Grip Garage umbrella. Now generally speaking, these aren't exactly valuable Muscle Cars, although there have been a few. He started creating some videos, which are always light-hearted and always fun. I'd say they are also pretty unpredictable, something we can't say about many of the other car related YouTube shows.
These videos would lead to the Motor Trend channel show RoadWorthy Rescues and of course, major expansion of his Vice Grip Garage fan base. The show chronicled Derek's travels, often with Jessica and his three sons. They have travelled coast to coast and into Canada, sometimes digging a car or truck out of the weeds not knowing whether they could get it running for a trip back home. Using regular tools and maybe even some bungee cords, zip ties and whatever else they could dig up, each trip is always an adventure! Being a car guy, Derek knows you do what you gotta do, especially when you're in the middle of nowhere.
We are honored to have Derek, Jessica and the boys joining us at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, November 22-23. And to keep things interesting, Derek says they'll be arriving in style in...well, stay tuned! Derek will be with us all day Saturday and Sunday and of course, they'll be bringing in lots of Vice Grip Garage swag. And since we are about a month before Christmas, plan on stocking up for your favorite VGG Fan! BIG Bicycle Show Week! Most of you know we are huge Muscle Bicycle fans. We always have fun with our Muscle Bike "Show Within the Show" at MCACN, Sponsored by Koolestuff.
