MCACN CLASS OF ‘72
INVITATIONAL DISPLAY PROMISES PLENTY OF MUSCLE!
Many think that 1971 marked the end
of the true Muscle Car era. Although there was certainly a shift in
emphasis and advertising, in light of increased insurance costs and
government regulations, there were still some great Muscle Cars available
if you knew your way around an order sheet. Mother Mopar still had the 440
available in the B-Bodies, and even a few 6-packs slipped out. Ford had
the HO 351’s, which were basically Boss 351’s without all the stripes. AMC
was putting 401’s in the Javelin/AMX and for General Motors, you had quite
a few choices. H.O. 455’s could be had in Firebirds and GTO’s, Oldsmobile
had the W-30 455’s, Chevy offered the 402’s and 454’s in the Chevelle and
of course, Buick offered the stout Stage 1 455. So was performance dead?
Absolutely not, and we’re going to prove it!
Two years ago in our Class of '70
Invitational display, we featured seven of the sixty-seven Stage 1, four
speed Buick G.S. convertibles, roughly 10% of the cars built. This year in
our Class of '72 Invitational display, we already have registered five
of the fifteen Stage 1, four speed convertibles built for the model
year. By comparison, that represents more than 25% of this rare model's
production. We also have four W-30 equipped Olds 442’s signed up,
including several prime unrestored examples. This promises to be a banner
year for Buick and Oldsmobile muscle car participation in this display and
throughout the show, and the search continues for more of these elusive
four speed Stage 1 converts.
The Anniversary displays at the
Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals are always a hit, and this year we have
several. The Class of 1967 and Class of ‘72
along with the displays within the displays spotlighting the 1967
Z-28 and of course our incredible feature display commemorating the
50th Anniversary of the First Generation Camaro and Firebird.
This display will blow you away with the absolute rarest of the rare, many
never shown, including Concept, Race, Firsts and more. It just keeps
getting better and better!
The search continues
for a few specific cars; Of course,
we are always searching for all makes and models of prime
American Muscle for the show. We have about 300 cars already signed up,
and entries are being received faster than ever. If you have something
prime that you would like to show with us, please submit your application
now by

here; or e-mail me directly with

There are still a few specific cars from my “Hit List” that I really want
to see, so if you own a muscular Mercury Cougar, a Duster 340 or Demon
340, (especially 1972!) an AMC product, a supercharged Studebaker, a RO or
WO Mopar, a 1967 L/88 Corvette or an interesting candidate for our
Barn Finds & Hidden Gems area, let’s hear from you. We also have
a few more openings in our
Corvette Central Triple Diamond
certification area.
