Memorial Day; A Time To Honor

For many of us, Memorial Day kicks off the summer season. Of course for those of us in the Midwest, this means countless car shows and cruise nights where we can check out some of our favorite examples of American Muscle. For me, it also means we can break out some of our Muscle Bicycles, as seen in our "Show Within the Show" Sponsored by Koolestuff, to cruise on some of our peddle powered bikes! With Emily's collection rapidly expanding, (cough-cough) we will certainly be racking up some miles!

While the excitement builds for getting behind the wheel and smelling the "good gas", we also need to reflect on what this day is all about. Honoring those who fought the ultimate fight so that we can enjoy our freedom is something to always remember. We salute our members of the Armed Forces that lost their lives, and we would also like to thank all who currently serve and those who have served in the past.

With that being said, we want to again remind you that this year at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals we will host a very special display honoring our Vietnam Veterans. Muscle Cars represented an era that played a large part of many of our Vietnam Veterans lives, and we want to honor these fine ladies and gentleman. If you own a Muscle Car or Corvette, are a Vietnam Vet, or your car has a connection to a Vietnam Vet, we would love to have you join us. I often say, the cars bring us together, but it is the stories that really make it all mean so much. Please consider joining us to acknowledge just how important these folks and these cars are (or were) in a positive way. Remember, Sunday, November 24 we will have our Military Appreciation Day and we invite ALL Active and Retired members of the military to enjoy FREE Admission to our show with your Military I.D.

And don't forget; we will also be hosting the Official Unveiling of The Lawman Boss 429, Saturday morning, November 23. This is the actual car that toured many military bases back in 1969!

Indianapolis 500 Sunday! Some of you know that my Mother was a huge Indy Race fan. Although we lost her to pancreatic cancer years ago, we often think about her, especially this weekend! Tradition was for Vicki and I to take her to Indy qualifying and she loved "Bump" Day. Believe me...we spent time in the sun, the rain and even snow over the years! With that being said, we want to congratulate two huge supporters of the MCACN show who will literally be on the track Sunday before the race. You may remember the Real Pace Cars Invitational we hosted at MCACN in 2014. Well, in the center of that display was a pair of 1969 Camaro's. Yes...these are the ACTUAL Cars that led the race back in '69. Why were there two? Well, the tire "wars" dictated that one wore Goodyears while the other wore Firestones! Wade and Aster Ogle own the Goodyear shod car, while Tim Schell owns the Firestone car, formerly owned by Vernon Smith. Both of these cars will be featured on the track before the race, while honoring the 50th Anniversary of Mario Andretti's incredible win and the Andretti families involvement in motorsports. Congrats go out to the Ogle and the Schell Families. We will be watching!

Speaking of congratulations, I have to congratulate Dana Mecum and the entire Mecum Auctions team. The Steven Juliano Estate Auction was incredibly successful this past week and the presentation was truly over the top, certainly exceeding all expectations. It was truly a pleasure to be a part of the preparation and consultation for Stevens incredible memorabilia collection. Congrats to all who were able to purchase any of the cars or memorabilia.

The show is pacing (sorry...had to say that! lol) far ahead of previous years in all area's. Many of our Special and Invitational displays are already full, we are completely set (sold out) for Official Unveilings and Commercial "A" spots are sold out. We do have limited Commercial "B" vendor spots available and we are accepting applications for prime examples of American Muscle of all makes, with priority given to cars that have never been shown with us previously or at other shows in the area. We strive to present the freshest and highest quality show each and every year and we truly appreciate your continued support, whether you are a participant or a spectator.

Thanks and here's to a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!
