Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Dodge Daytona at MCACN
1969 is a pinnacle year in the Muscle Car world for many reasons. Of course, we will be commemorating this 50th Anniversary of '69 in several ways; we have our Class of 1969 Invitational special display with a variety of makes and models featured, the '69 Buick G.S. Invitational, our A12 Super Bee and Roadrunner Invitational, which is exceeding even our expectations already and a very special Corvette Legends Invitational display, Presented by Corvette Mike and Corvette Mike Midwest, which will feature ALL of the available engine offerings for 1969.
Today we are pleased to announce the return of the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum as an Official Sponsor along with the Wellborn Lounge. The theme this year coincides with the huge 50th Anniversary Aero Cars Reunion that is taking place October 10-13 at the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum, the Talledega Speedway and Tim and Pam Wellborn's home. This event is sure to be the largest gathering ever of these historical cars, and the entire weekend will be packed with activities, including a track drive and a Bar-B-Q.
Nobody can dispute the significance of the Dodge Daytona and then the Plymouth Superbird, with the huge wings and pointy noses! These cars broke records and set the NASCAR world on fire back in the day, and of course, made the Daytona and Superbird among the most recognized and sought after Mopars of the Muscle era. And of course, there is the Cyclone Spoiler II's and the Talledega's...can't forget those! The Aero wars among the manufacturers would have a lasting affect on the race world forever.
With that being said, Tim Wellborn has decided to extend the anniversary celebration with a big special display of these wild cars at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, November 23-24. This gathering will flank the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum Lounge, with the spotlight on the
K & K Daytona, as seen above. This car is the real deal, and hopefully you heard about Tim taking it to Bonneville recently, where he added to the unique history. And Tim isn't done with Bonneville, as he has more plans to smash records in Utah! Be sure to ask him about it at the show.
