*Sneak Peek
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
MCACN 2020 Class of 1970 Participant
Owner: Robert Gurskis, Illinois
What an incredible kick off to the New Year! The Mecum Auctions team once again raised the bar with ten days of incredible auction action. As expected, the Bullitt grabbed everyone's attention and when the hammer fell, it closed with a bid of a whopping 3.4 million dollars. Whew...now that's strong! If you were there or saw it online or on TV, you saw Muscle Car history in the making and the excitement level was similar to a prize-fight or the end of the Super Bowl. Congrats go out to the Kiernan Family. I don't think they had any idea how this would play out, but clearly they were pleased with the promotion and treatment they received from our MCACN Title Sponsor, Mecum Auctions. And once again, with the incredible success of the Kissimmee auction overall, it once again proves the fact to Nobody sells more Muscle than Mecum. Nobody!

Kicking into gear for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, we are pleased to announce that the Red Carpet display up front will feature what we call the "Top Dogs" from General Motors for the 1970 model year. What are Top Dogs, you ask? Well...for Chevrolet that would be the LS6, for Buick, Stage 1's, Oldsmobile's W30 and for Pontiac, the Ram Air IV! On the right side you will see all convertibles, with hardtops on the left. The ultimate goal is to feature the absolute finest examples, with one 4-speed and one automatic of each model on each side. We have a great start already with about half of the field already confirmed. If you have a 1970 G.M. Muscle Machine that meets this criteria, please E-mail me asap at bashton426@gmail.com for consideration. Remember; this is strictly for the finest examples, the rarest variations and cars that have great history. Of course, if the spot for your make or model has been filled, we will consider it for either our Class of 1970 Invitational or in other area's of the show. With so many prime 70's, we know we will have plenty in the show this year!
Car Entry; We opened up our online form for applications. As always, priority is given to cars that have not been shown with us or in the area previously and especially cars that are being shown for the very first time. Last year we played host to over 550 cars from 42 states and several provinces. We are committed to presenting a fresh, new show each and every year and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to do exactly that!
Auction Action Shifts West; So this week all eyes head west with the variety of auctions in the Phoenix area. As we all know, there are plenty of them happening this week! We will head out there to do some serious networking, as we have incredible participation from our West Coast friends. I already have meetings set up with several restorers that are locked in for Premier Unveilings, so watch for some "in progress" pictures in the coming months. Of course, I'll also be stopping by to see our good friend Drew Hardin of Muscle Car Review and Scott, Kenny and Adam out in Cali at Official Sponsor MASCAR headquarters! We have some really neat things in the works with these guys.
Official Host Hotels; Contracts are signed with our FIVE Official Host Hotels. All five are geared up and ready for us and all offer great rates, starting at just $122 at the Crowne Plaza along with special parking rates and extra perks for our spectators and participants alike. We have several direct booking links up now and the others will be up soon.
Blue skies are calling me! If you are heading west, flag me down or text me so we can talk about the 12th Annual Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, which will take place November 21-22, 2020 at the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont (suburban Chicago), Illinois.
THANKS!
