Mecum Summer Kissimmee Auction, Corvettes at Carlisle and Corvette Adventures
It goes without saying that for the most part, this summer has been pretty depressing for us car enthusiasts. Events that I have been going to annually for many years were forced to cancel, leaving me at home when I really wanted to be seeing old friends and making new ones. Heck...Ian and I were finally able to make plans to do the Power Tour this year, after years of not being able to coordinate our schedules. But then, on a positive note, I was able to attend the Carlisle Mopar event, which was great, and the Mecum Indy Spring Classic and the Eddie Vannoy Collection Auction were also a lot of fun. Thanks Mecum Auctions and Carlisle Events teams!
Alas...this weekend there are THREE great events that we highly recommend. Our good friends at Carlisle Events have literally been fighting to produce their events, and after a hard fought battle, they kicked off their big Spring Carlisle Swap, moving it to June. Although it may have been a bit smaller, we salute the team for producing another great event. From there, the Carlisle Events team kicked into high gear, following up with the Ford, Chevy/GM, Import, Truck and of course, the Mopar events. Their attention to detail and safety for all of the spectators and participants is to be commended, and we also salute the spectators and participants for being safe and thoughtful.
The Mecum Auctions team also stepped up, utilizing all of the necessary CDC guidelines and more to get their season back on track. Of course, they went above and beyond and the results show, including a record setting Indy event.
So with that being said, in this ever changing world we live in I am pleased to say there are THREE great events we can hit this weekend.
Mecum Summer Special in Kissimmee, August 27-29; Dana Mecum and the Mecum Auctions team are not ones to sit on the sidelines when things change, always reinventing the auction scene. They have once again jumped in to produce a very special event. Clearly the huge Kissimmee Auction in January is the benchmark for the car auction world, so it makes sense to add this one to their schedule. Corvettes at Carlisle, August 27-30; The Carlisle Events team are true professionals. We draw great inspiration from them, as they work really hard to produce truly outstanding events. Their Event Coordinators take true ownership and pride and it really shows. This weekend they will host one of their Premier events, with several thousand Corvettes heading to the Carlisle Fairgrounds. As is the case with all of their events, in addition to row after row of cars they will also have a huge swap meet, a manufacturers midway, free seminars, great stuff for the kids and a whole lot more. These events are all about having fun and sharing the passion. This is a definite Must Do event, not only for Car Enthusiasts, but anyone that loves the camaraderie of our hobby. Corvette Adventures, August 27-29; Perhaps you are overdue for some driving fun with your Corvette. If that's the case, we highly recommend heading out to the beautiful Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin for Corvette Adventures. The resort is taking extra measures toward the safety of its guests. This is all about fun, driving and as the name implies, Adventure. With a full schedule of events, ranging from driving and "Hot Laps" to winery tours to an awesome dinner cruise to, well...a whole lot more. This is really a neat event and a great way to get out of the house in a socially distant and safe way. You will be in your own Corvette! The roads surrounding the area are outstanding and the tours well thought out. You may be surprised at how beautiful the area is, and how much fun the roads are in this area. MCACN COVID and Chicago Update; We are working with the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center to create the safest environment for our spectators, our participants and our staff. The MCACN team and Donald E. Stephens Convention Center are continuing to monitor the evolving situation regarding COVID-19.
We are committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and
well being of our customers and employees.
Currently the Convention Center follows and practices the prevention strategies set forth by the CDC and EPA and adheres to the recommendations set forth in the U.S. EPA’s emerging Pathogen Policy regarding cleaning disinfectants. The Donald E. Stephens Convention Center has responded to this event by taking several actions, which we will outline as we get closer to the show. Also remember, our show is in ROSEMONT, NOT CHICAGO. Rosemont is a safe suburban area, located near the O'Hare Airport. Everything you need is within walking distance of the Convention Center, with four of our five Official Host Hotels located right across the street, with the fifth just a few blocks away with a free door to door shuttle.
