Ford and Mercury Take Center Stage at MCACN This Year!

At the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, we take pride in mixing things up a bit every year. As many of you know, each year we switch up the "Red Carpet" display between the Big 3, and this year the spotlight falls on Ford and Mercury. Up front we will have a huge Boss Invitational display. Of course, you'll see a variety of prime Boss 9's, including some very unexpected treasures. Did you know that there were TWO Boss 429 Mercury Cougars? Did you know there was a single Boss 302 Prototype built in 1971? Stay tuned...

So, today we would like to talk about another very special display. Our good friend Marty Burke from Texas has shown and Unveiled a variety of gorgeous cars with us over the years. And when it comes to Ford and Mercury Muscle there isn't anyone more passionate. If you are into these cars, you know Marty! Always smiling and always ready to share his vast knowledge and enthusiasm.

Anyway, this year Marty is coordinating something a bit different, which we will call the Better Idea Big Block Invitational. This special display will focus on some of the cars you may not think of first when it comes to 68-71 Big Block Ford and Mercury Muscle. No Mustangs, Galaxies or Cougars in this one! What you will see are prime examples including a 1969 Cyclone GT, a one owner 1969 Cyclone 390, 4-speed, a tastefully modified 1969 Cyclone Spoiler II, a 1970 Torino Cobra and of course, the sweet Talladega shown above. But wait...there's more! We have something in the works that takes our Premier Unveilings to another level. We are going to keep you in suspense for now, but I will say that this 68.5 Torino GT has an amazing story and an amazing owner, that you will  know, and it isn't Marty! Details are being hammered out now but when it comes to fun, this nails it in so many ways. Once again I say...expect the Unexpected at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals!

MECUM KISSIMMEEE; Records Smashed Yet Again! We are truly honored to have Mecum Auctions as our Title Sponsor. Not just because they're really neat people, but because they share the passion and enthusiasm we have at MCACN. The recent Kissimmee auction sure proved the old adage Nobody Sells More Muscle Than Mecum; NOBODY! In addition to hosting the world's largest collector car auction with over 4,100 cars crossing the block, there were so many record sales, and not just on American Muscle. They covered the bases whether it was an entry level collector car or a Multi-Million dollar exotic. And so many unusual offerings this year. Sure was fun to watch, whether you were there in person or watching on TV or online. Day after day of great stuff. CONGRATS go out to Dana, Frank and the team and also to John and Scott who did their usual outstanding job with their incredible knowledge on Motor Trend TV and Discovery.

WESTERN SWING: This week I head west to hit Arizona and California. I'll be jamming a month's worth of "networking" into about a week, and boy do I have some exciting things lined up! Every year I come back with great new features, outstanding cars and am able to spend some quality time with some of our favorite collectors and sponsors. If you are heading out there, I hope to see you!

MCACN HOTEL UPDATE: As they say, DONE DEAL with all of our Official Host Hotels. We work very hard to make sure you get not only a great rate, but extra perks and convenience, whether you are a participant or a spectator. Many of you know that the DoubleTree is pretty much party central and is always the first to sell out. The Embassy Suites has stepped up to return the Nightly Manager's Reception to the second floor, as MCACN people simply took over the past few years! And of course, ALL of our Official Host Hotels offer reduced rate parking and more. Check out our website now as we have direct booking links for four of them, with rates starting at just $121.00 per night at the Crowne Plaza. The Crowne Plaza, DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, Hilton and Hyatt are ALL right across the street. The aLoft is just a few blocks away and the Sonesta is about a mile away. Book your rooms now, as it will sneak up on you!

CAR ENTRY: We have announced several of our new Invitational and Special displays and more will be announced over the coming weeks. If you have a car that fits, please let us know asap, as these are always the first to fill. We are looking for the best of the best, the rarest of the rare and especially cars that are rarely if ever shown. If you have something that is not suitable for one of the special displays, but is a great car that you would love to show, let us know. For the past few years a vast majority of the show has been made up of special displays, but that doesn't mean we don't want your car in the show! To pre-qualify, send pictures and information to bashton426@gmail.com
