 PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES...And MCACN Official Event Car!

While those of us in the Midwest anxiously anticipate the warmer weather, (and the start of boating season!) the MCACN team is making big plans for the upcoming Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show at the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (SUBURBAN Chicago), Illinois, November 18-19. And do we have some great things in the works!

We are now hard at work putting together a variety of promotional items. Of course, we post nearly every day on our facebook page and we are diving into the world of Instagram. But there is a whole lot more that we do to get the word out there, in addition to attending shows and auctions. Postcards, Tri-Folds, magnets, print and online ads, Press Releases and of course, our 88 page annual MCACN magazine are among them. So this is where we need your help.

We already have well over 100 cars entered and we are confirming more nearly every day. Many of our Special and Invitational displays are already set, and several of the people we have hosting special displays are doing an incredible job extending invitations and confirming participation. This means the show will be full (as in "sold out") for car entries faster than ever. This has been happening every year, with many categories completely full as early as May! Now, this is a wonderful problem to have, but what it means is that if you plan on joining us, you need to get registered asap to be sure you are in the show, especially for those of you who want to be Concours judged or would like to do a Premier Unveiling. With close to 550 cars in the show last year, (full capacity) we were forced to turn away well over 100 cars, and if you know me, I hate doing that! If you are considering joining us, please send pictures and information to bashton426@gmail.com. We are always looking for the best of the best, the rarest of the rare and cars that are rarely (if ever!) shown to the public. We are committed to putting together a well balanced show, brand wise also. We pride ourselves in presenting a fresh show every year and something that leaves you wondering how we do it!

So...speaking of promoting what we do. People often ask me how I choose what cars we use for ads, online and even for our series of Auto World Limited Edition diecast cars and our Johnny Lightning Cars of MCACN series. First and foremost, they need to be great cars that are in our show that represent what we are all about and we need good, clear pictures! It is amazing how many truly outstanding cars we get from owners that send us terrible pictures. Believe me, I want to use your car, so help us out by sending me as many good pictures as you can.

So what makes a "good, clear" picture? Pretty simple actually, and with modern technology, many of us have phones that can do the job. Here is a simple checklist;

1. ALL panels closed; this means the hood, the doors and the trunk. And make sure the panels are not "ajar".
2. No people in the picture, unless of course the person in the picture is gorgeous! (male or female, lol)
3. Clear sky, with the sun behind you. Tip: always shoot with the sun behind you. This makes the colors "pop" and not appear washed out.
4. No telephone poles or trees growing out of the car. This is self explanatory. Look at the background when you take the picture; is it "busy?"
5. Don't "cut-off" any of the car or body panels. If part of the overall image of the car is cut off, we don't use it.

That is pretty much it. If you can send me pictures that conform with these guidelines, chances are much better for your car to be used in our promotional materials and online. Please send your best to bashton426@gmail.com.

I'm off this week to again work with the Mecum Auctions team to do some cool TV stuff. This is always fun and this time I'll talk about The Black Ghost, which we first introduced to you and the world at the MCACN show back in 2017, which is hitting the auction block at Dana Mecums Spring Classic in Indianapolis in May. www.mecum.com for full information on that.

Thanks and as always, please be safe, stay healthy and Be NICE!
