MCACN FEATURES A "SHOW WITHIN THE SHOW" FEATURING MUSCLE BICYCLES and THIS SUNDAY, THE MONROE BICYCLE SWAP
While the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals have established quite a reputation for being the place to be in November for anyone interested in American Muscle and Corvettes, we also pride ourselves in diversity. What does that mean? Well...in addition to the 500+ prime examples of massively overpowered Muscle Cars that are on display, we also have some other features. Among them is our "Show within the Show" spotlighting Muscle Bicycles, Sponsored by Koolestuff. But we'll get to that later....
This Sunday, May 5, we have a national treasure in the Detroit area. The Monroe (formerly Ann Arbor) Bicycle show and swap is hands down the biggest and best event of its type anywhere. Imagine if you will, a huge swap meet that is entirely devoted to bicycles. Celebrating their 42nd event, this was held for many years in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. Several years ago they moved to a much larger and substantially better venue; the Monroe County Fairgrounds in Monroe, Michigan. There are numerous indoor buildings and nice paved walkways around the many grass swap spaces. There are literally 100's of vendors that come in from across the country and oftentimes other countries, much like MCACN! While there are all kinds of bicycles and other wheeled treasures along with every possible bike part you can imagine at this huge event, there are always a lot of cool Muscle Bikes and parts, and you know that's what we love!
Silly Kids on a Bike Adventure
In addition to the swap, there is an indoor Bicycle show with a wide variety of classes and awards. There are always some real neat bikes in there, and that building is also where you will find our display, where we will be spreading the word about our Muscle Bicycle "Show within the Show" at MCACN.
So let's talk about OUR Muscle Bicycle show. What started as my mode of show transportation during setup has morphed into the just for fun display of all kinds of cool Muscle Bikes. As I rode around Thursday and Friday, people kept stopping me to tell me about their own Muscle Bikes...or the ones they used to own. So now, we have our own special feature at MCACN. You will see Schwinn Sting-Rays and Krates, Ross Barracudas and Apollos, Sears Spyders and Screamers, Raleigh Choppers and way too many more to list. Gary Wold of Koolestuff, our Official Sponsor has a great display, as he is the authorized licensee for Schwinn reproduction parts and he also always has some prime Muscle Bikes and vintage parts for sale. And of course, Gary and the Koolestuff crew will be at the Monroe Bicycle show, right across from our display.
So if you have a 60's or 70's Muscle Bike, we encourage you to show it with us at MCACN. This is not a competition or judged dealio, as it is strictly for fun. We want you to share the stories and show off your bikes! Whether it is a show stopper, a survivor or literally rode hard and put up wet, we encourage you to join us. And this year, to make things even more interesting, we will be adding some 80's-90's BMX Bicycles to the mix. Yep; dig out your GT, Hoffman or Mongoose and show it off with us in November. This is all about having fun and making memories. Just another reason for you to join us, November 23-24 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (SUBURBAN Chicago) Illinois.
