HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
PRESENTING MK INSURANCE LEADING LADY AWARDS AT MCACN
So this Sunday is Mothers Day. Hopefully this is a time that we can recognize the many Mom's out there that not only support what we do, but in many cases participate in so many ways. My Mom was a huge IndyCar fan who loved the stats and the action. Every year we would take her to Indy for qualifying, and she would be in her glory...She preferred the action of qualifying as she preferred to watch the race on TV, as she could see more of the action everywhere!
While Mothers Day is certainly a great time to acknowledge our Mothers and hopefully spend some quality time, at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show we like to spotlight the Ladies in several ways.
One is with our Leading Lady awards, Presented by MK Insurance. Tamra Perto, owner of MK Insurance is the Official Sponsor of these very special awards. To be eligible, cars must be owned and/or maintained by a Lady, and we do require proof. I am happy to say that for the past five shows, we have seen a significant increase in female participation. Of course, several are "regulars" like our Official Spokesmodel Adrianna, who races in the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags, as does her Mom Caroline and her sisters. Our good friend Carol Croxford has shown several of her Superbirds with us and of course Aster Ogle is another awesome Mom. Remember Asters' Hemi 'cuda convertible? YES...that really is hers! Last year we also had Ladies in several of our special displays and also as individual entrants, and I'm happy to say that is the case already for 2024.
So, Tamra dives right in, as she is also a real car girl. Believe me, she can talk the talk! She knows the business of collector car insurance inside and out and she loves talking to the owners. In fact, we provide her with a list of all of our eligible ladies, and she looks at all of the cars after hours on Friday and then narrows it down to her top contenders, From there, she personally interviews the owners to get an idea of just how involved in our hobby they are. Her picks aren't necessarily the nicest or shiniest cars, as she bases her decisions on the car and the owner. Beautiful crystal awards are presented to a female owner of a Mopar, a General Motors product, a Ford or Mercury and a fourth "Wild Card '' award that can be any make. Tamra feels that we all need to shine the spotlight on the Ladies of our hobby and this is just one way we do it. So....if you are a Lady owner/Enthusiast and would like to join us and have a shot at taking home a very special award, (even if your car is not being judged), please send pictures and information to bashton426@gmail.com. You MUST provide a copy of your title or registration showing your name to be eligible.

So hopefully you will be able to spend some time with your Mother or mother figure this week, even if they aren't a car person. Perhaps a nice ride in a massively overpowered Muscle Machine or Corvette? Now that sounds like fun!
