A CORVETTE OWNER THIS WEEKEND?
With the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show just days away, I am often asked about cars that may be offered for sale at our show. Well, today I’d like to tell you about two Corvettes that are available. These two could not be further apart. The first is one of the most significant C1 Corvette race cars in existence with direct Chicago ties. The Purple People Eater, as raced by Nickey Chevrolet will be right up front in one of our “hot spots”. This is the actual car as raced back in the day. Chip Miller found this car for sale at the inaugural Corvettes at Carlisle event, and owned it for years before realizing exactly what he had. After an extensive restoration to near perfection, it is now like a step back in time. Make a point of checking it out and reading the history; there is not another like it, and YES...this car is being offered for sale at our show!

The second is something you normally wouldn’t see at the MCACN show. This 1987 Corvette was recently found by our good friend Jeff Filz languishing in a western Michigan garage. Well, actually it was about half in the garage, and half hanging out of it! Jeff struck a deal and loaded this beast on his trailer. Not knowing exactly what to do with it, he came up with an idea that is really cool. This car will be on display in our Barn Finds & Hidden Gems area, exactly as he found it. So here’s where things get really interesting; Jeff is going to offer this car for sale in “Silent Auction” style, with a minimum bid of just $2,500.00. If bidding exceeds just $3,000.00(!) all money above 3k will be donated to Honor Flight Network.
Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans from WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam for all their sacrifices. Honor Flight transports our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Preference is given to those who may be terminally ill.
Jeff had this to say; “My father participated in this a few years ago. Witnessing the reception these veterans received at the airport when they arrived home was one of the most touching experiences of my life.” Jeff never forgot this and with Veterans Day just past, what a great way to again honor our Veterans. Someone is going to go home with a Corvette! Hats off to Jeff and his family for allowing us to be a part of this. Another example that shows that the MCACN show is really about a whole lot more then just the cars!

Show hours are Saturday, November 19, from 9 am – 9 pm, and Sunday, November 20, from 9 am – 5 pm. Please plan on joining us to see well over 500 of the finest examples of American Muscle and the best of the best Corvettes, joining us from all across the country and Canada, and even some ‘67 GTO owners joining us from North Pole, Alaska! We will again fill nearly 400,000 square feet of exhibit space in the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (suburban Chicago), Illinois, just minutes from Chicago O’Hare airport.
