In Honor of Memorial Day
With all that is going on worldwide right now, it may be hard to even think about Memorial Day. According to the History.com website, "Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season."
For many of us, family tradition abounds on the Memorial Day weekend. For us, it has meant a weekend of boating with the kids and Grand-kids, and it has happened rain or shine. We have made some great memories! We won't be able to do that this year....
So let's remember what this holiday is all about; honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. And while we do that, we can also acknowledge the many that are making some pretty serious sacrifices right now. Thank You...
UPCOMING EVENTS; Although it seems like we are seeing events cancelled nearly every day, there ARE quite a few that ARE planning on taking place. As promoters, we are all making necessary adjustments to make sure that we create a safe environment, whether for those working the event or participating. And of course, I recommend that anyone that is not comfortable at this time, stay home until you do feel comfortable. There is no shame in that.
MECUM AUCTIONS
Our Title Sponsor, Mecum Auctions, is diligently working to get back on stage. Dana Mecums expanded 33rd Annual Spring Classic will take place July 10-18. Whew...been waiting for this one! They will also be in Denver, July 10-11. We are anxiously awaiting a new date for the Eddie Vannoy Collection auction, so stay tuned on that.

CARLISLE EVENTS
Our friends at Carlisle Events are gearing up for the rescheduled Spring Swap meet, June 17-20. This is one of their biggest events, and if you have been there you know what an awesome event it is. After that, June 26-27 is the Chevy Nationals and then on to the Chrysler Nationals, July 10-12. The rescheduled Ford Nationals will take place July 31- August 2 and the huge Corvette at Carlisle event takes place August 27-30. Of course, they have several other events on the schedule too!

MUSCLE CAR AND CORVETTE NATIONALS; FULL SPEED AHEAD! There is no doubt that we are anxious to again produce a world class, family friendly event in Rosemont, Illinois, November 21-22. We will make whatever adjustments are necessary and as I am sure you know, we are committed to the safety of our staff, our participants and our spectators. Entries for cars and automotive only vendors are being accepted now and we are again filling at a record rate in nearly all area's of the show!
I know that we are all anxious to get out there and have some fun, so please plan on supporting these events, and of course, others that are taking place. We have already lost way too many! Of course, we all need to make whatever necessary adjustments we need to be safe, we need to practice social distancing and most of all, use some common sense and be courteous and respectful of others!
