MCACN 2020 Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Display Participant

There is no doubt that many of the cars you will see at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show may be dubbed "trailer queens." In fact, some are truly works of art, with countless hours invested in the restorations, not to mention the $$$! But the fact is, not all of them are kept in climate controlled buildings, roped off. Allow is to discuss what has become one of the most popular, and in many ways, unexpected features of our show.
The Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Racers take a different approach. You see, these cars are actually used in exactly the way they were meant to be used back in the day. And don't for a minute think they are not show worthy! Some, in fact, have gone through the MCACN judging process and have fared quite well, garnering some pretty prestigious awards.
So the premise is simple, as explained on their website; The Pure Stock Drags is a heart-pumping, octane-boosting race for stock muscle cars held every September at Mid-Michigan Motorplex. What distinguishes our race is that drivers may make only limited modifications to their cars, ensuring the Detroit muscle remains just like when it rolled off the assembly line. The result is more than one hundred beautiful, high-quality cars—that do more than sit in the garage.
So how does this apply to our show? Well, for the past several years, Donny Brass, who races his own prime '66 L79 Corvette, coordinates a special group of these cars for your viewing pleasure. Each and every one is hand picked and personally invited for this special display, representing a broad range of what you can see blasting down the track in Stanton, Michigan. What makes the cars so special is that they not only run strong, but they look great too. Most are running on bias-ply original size tires, so yes....you will see plenty of tire smoke at the race! But what makes this display even better are the people. Lots of families, multiple generations and lots of camaraderie. And this isn't just at our show, as this is how it is at the races too. But don't think for a minute that it isn't competitive.
The Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Races will return to the Mid Michigan Motorplex, September 18-19. There are no plans to cancel this event, and you can bet I will be there. And then, make a point of checking out the PSMCDR display at our show. Donny has lined up an even dozen cars which will be paired up for the display, and one that represents what they are all about in the lobby area. The beautiful Fairlane shown above is one that you will see at MCACN , so you get an idea of the quality!

YES...the MCACN Show IS HAPPENING! Of course, it is a new world and things seem to change on a daily basis, but allow me to say the MCACN team is proceeding full speed ahead for the 2020 show. It appears that by November, we should be in decent shape and if we all do what we need to do, the show will return to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22. The safety of our staff, participants and spectators are of utmost importance, so we will abide by whatever rules and make whatever changes are necessary to once again provide the prime family friendly event that you expect. We have received over 300 entries, which again is tracking ahead. Vendor renewals are also on track, (Commercial A is already sold out!) and our Official Sponsors are on board, supporting what we do.
