Prime Muscle and More: Dana Mecums Original Spring Classic THIS WEEK!

The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals team is truly honored to have Mecum Auctions as our long time Title Sponsor. Being affiliated with the best is what we are all about, and there is no doubt that when it comes to the auction world, Mecum is the best. And when it comes to American Muscle, (which of course is what MCACN is all about!) Nobody sells more American Muscle than Mecum. NOBODY!

This week is one we look forward to all year. Dana Mecums Original Spring Classic which takes place May 12-20, may not be the largest auction they host, (Kissimmee takes that honor) but for Muscle, this one is my favorite. Perhaps being in the home of the Indianapolis 500 gives it a special energy. Again this year, Dana, Frank and the team have over 3,000 vehicles crossing the block and there are so many prime examples, no matter what your preference is. And if it is Corvettes you like, you'll be able to choose from over 240 of them! Our good friend Steve Burns revealed on the Corvette Blogger that as of May 8, there were 241 Corvettes confirmed; C1: 26, C2: 68, C3: 64, C4: 32, C5: 12, C6: 18, C7: 11, C8: 10. How's that for variety!

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that the "Black Ghost" 1970 426 Hemi RT/SE Challenger that we had the honor of introducing to you back in 2017 at MCACN hits the block Friday, May 20. I recently participated in a special TV feature show that will air Saturday, May 13 at 8 pm EST on the Motor Trend network, so be sure to tune in!

We will be announcing a special "What's the Final Bid" contest on our facebook page starting Thursday, May 18. Whoever is the first who posts on our facebook page the final hammer price, or closest to it, will win a MCACN SWAG-Bag filled with MCACN memorabilia you just gotta have! So speaking of American Muscle on offer at the auction, there are some incredible collections with several containing past MCACN shown vehicles. Yenko? Check!, Hemi? Check! Shelby? Check! L88? Check! And the lists go on and on. And of course there is the long forgotten RTS 'cuda that was just added to the mix a few weeks ago. I recommend taking a close look at the Hustle With the Muscle and the Motor City Muscle Collection. You'll see MCACN alumni in both of these! And if you are into original/unrestored rods, check out the unique cars and trucks from Mike Wolfe of American Pickers collection. And as always, there is so much more, including some really nice Exotics, Classics and trucks . If you can't find it in Indy, you aren't looking hard enough!

As always, the auction is not limited to cars, as there is some incredible Road Art. Gary Wold of Koolestuff, our Official Sponsor of our Muscle Bicycle and our Mini Bike "Shows Within the Show" at MCACN has SIX gorgeous Muscle Bikes crossing the block Saturday morning, May 20. This includes a beautifully restored 1963 Schwinn Sting Ray and FIVE Krates ranging from 1968-1973. Whew!

MECUM Television and Online Coverage: If you are not able to make it to Indy, there are several ways you can keep up with all of the auction action. First, you can watch the entire auction in real time through the all new and revised Mecum website. And then, starting Wednesday at noon, you can catch John Kraman and Scott Hoke on the Motor Trend Network. VEHICLES we'd really like to have in the show: As always, our primary focus will always be on American Muscle of the 60's and 70's. We are committed to presenting a fresh new show every year. If you have a rarely (if ever!) shown example of American Muscle or something else that is really neat, we'd love to hear about it. From "rode hard and put away wet" for our Barn Finds & Hidden Gems section to fully restored "trailer queens, if it's real and prime we will certainly consider it. A few specific vehicles we are hoping to add to the mix: 73-77 442's and Lagunas (STOCK and "best of the best only!), the absolute BEST Dodge Chargers (more on this soon!), 1968 Shelbys, especially KR's, some 1968 Chevelles and Camaro's, and some prime high performance Impalas, especially a '63 Z11!
