Bloomington Gold Celebrates 50th Anniversary THIS WEEK!
Over the years we have seen many events come and go. The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is proud of the fact that we are entering our 15th year, as we launched in 2009. With that being said, we are thrilled to see our good friends Guy and Jocelyn Larsen are geared up and ready to commemorate the 50th Anniversary for the Bloomington Gold event this week, June 1-3. Last year they returned to the original home in Bloomington, Illinois and enjoyed a warm welcome and outstanding attendance and participation.
Known worldwide for the Bloomington Gold certification judging, which is a prerequisite for our own Triple Diamond certification, (Sponsored by Corvette Central) that is just one aspect of this great event. They also have Survivor certification for unrestored Corvettes, a swap meet and indoor vendors, which is where we will have a display to talk about the upcoming Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, November 18-19.
In addition to all of the Corvette specific activities, the BG team also added the Camaro to the mix, with their intense judging program. This is a welcome addition as it gives another reason for owners to share their great cars and a really neat addition for spectators. And speaking of fun additions, Bloomington Gold is now recognizing the popular Resto-Mods. To explain, this new program recognizes the seamless integration of today’s possibilities into yesterday’s performers by applying today's capabilities and styling enhancements that result in improved styling, handling, performance, and comfort to modern standards while retaining a classic original design. A Bloomington Gold Certified® Resto Mod is a Corvette that is modified more than 50% in all four of the following sections: engine, chassis, exterior and interior. Sure to be a must see!
We are especially looking forward to the 2023 Gold Collection, which will spotlight the Z06 Corvettes from 1963-2024 with over 25 prime examples. Race cars, street cars and even the new 2024 will be on display in the Bone Student Center, with a kick off celebration Thursday at 6:00pm. I also hear they will have one of the new 2024 Electric Corvettes on display.

The primary events take place Friday, June 2nd - Saturday, June 3rd. The main show and swap open at 8 am and it all happens at the Illinois State University campus in Bloomington, Illinois.
