Oldsmobiles Heading to Lansing, Michigan Saturday
We all know that Lansing, Michigan is the home of Oldsmobile. Every year for the past 25 years, Oldsmobile and those who love them have headed to Lansing for the Oldsmobile Homecoming show and swap meet. Billed as the “World’s largest one day Oldsmobile show!” and I believe it is. We have seen over 500 cars on the grounds in the past, and the swap features several rows of parts and memorabilia. This year they are featuring all Hurst/Olds vehicles, so that gives you even more of a reason to join us on Saturday, June 16. For full information, check out http://www.reolds.org/ homecoming.htm.
We will be set up in the Swap/Vendor area to talk all about what we have in store for our big 10th Anniversary show, November 17-18. It is going to be a huge year for Oldsmobiles at MCACN, as we have several Invitational displays and several Premier Unveilings specific to Olds. You have heard about our Ram Rod & W31 Invitational, which is sure to be the largest gathering ever under one roof of these Small Block Screamers. Led by Dan Vasic, the diversity of this group of cars will blow you away. Stock, restored, original and even a few race cars are in the mix. And then we have our “Display Within a Display” for the Class of 1968 Invitational area, with a row of FIVE of the coolest ‘68 Hurst/Olds that you will ever see. Again, restored and unrestored examples along with a racer are in the mix. Additional Oldsmobiles will be found throughout the show, including in our Barn Finds; Hidden Gems and Vintage Certification areas.
For Premier Unveilings, look for Steven Minore’s own W31 in the Garner Restorations, Inc. display. One of our newest Official Sponsors, the Garner Restorations crew joins us from Florida and they are geared up and ready. This has been a long time coming, and there is no doubt that this one is going to be a show stopper.
Mike Mancini and his American Muscle Car Restorations, Inc. Team in Rhode Island, another MCACN Official Sponsor, are hard at work on a 1970 442 W-30 hardtop. The cover will be pulled off Saturday morning, and as you know, it will certainly be among the best in the world. And then we have the 1969 Hurst/Olds Prototype that is being restored right now in Colorado for The Brothers Collection. The one-off and unique features on this car will stop you in your tracks. Suffice it to say, this is a car like no other. As a neat little FYI, that means we will have both the ‘69 Hurst/Olds Prototype and the 1970 Buick GS/X Prototype in the MCACN show this year! Whew...what a lineup.

We hope to see you Saturday at the Oldsmobile Homecoming, or perhaps you are gearing up for the huge Bloomington Gold Corvette event, June 21-23. Of course, we’ll be there too in the Trackside Garage #22, and we’ll highlight that next week. June is always one of my favorite months and we certainly have a lot to talk about when it comes to our MCACN Tenth Anniversary show!
Wishing a Happy Fathers Day to all Dad’s and Grand-Dads. Hope you are able to spend some time with Dad this weekend!
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is the world’s largest all indoor specialty show devoted to Muscle Cars, Dealer-built Supercars and the finest Corvettes. We will fill nearly 400,000 square feet of the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (suburban Chicago) just minutes from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. The show takes place annually the weekend before Thanksgiving, which is Saturday, November 17, and Sunday, November 18 this year. See over 550 of the best of the best and the rarest of the rare, many from private collections that are rarely if ever shown, all under one roof.
BTW; if you are attending The Oldsmobile Homecoming or Bloomington Gold, be sure to check out our new Tenth Anniversary T-shirts. We have Purple, Red and Blue along with some Tie-Dye versions available in sizes Small to 3XL.
