Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick To Appear at MCACN

Since launching the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show in 2009, we have had the distinct honor of hosting some of the most legendary racers of our lifetime. Buddy Martin, Bobby Unser, Shirley Shahan and Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins are just a few of them. This year we have Herb McCandless and Butch Leal joining us, and another truly legendary guy; Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick.

First let's answer the question; is he really a farmer? The answer is YES! Arnie is from a small farming community in Illinois, (he still lives there!) and that is where he developed an interest in all things mechanical. Even as a kid, Arnie had to work on things, tearing them apart and making them better...and faster. By the mid fifties, he was racing Oldsmobiles and Dodges, eventually acquiring the first of what would become many Pontiacs that he would race. This '58 Pontiac Chieftain was the car that led to numerous successful races and the beginning of what is a truly legendary career. A string of Pontiacs would follow but it was the 348 horsepower '60 Ventura that really kicked things up a notch. With special heads and camshaft along with other goodies that were shipped in the trunk, Arnie headed to Daytona Beach for the NHRA/NASCAR Winternationals. With the window sticker still attached and after numerous protests from his competitors, he would go on to secure the overall Super Stock award for the weeklong competition. Soon after, Arnie stepped up to full time competition, travelling coast to coast and establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with. This would continue for several decades. Through the many ups and downs, Arnie earned the respect of fans and fellow racers. World famous and recognized as a true champion, we are honored to have him joining us this year. Arnie will join us with one of his many famous drag cars and some very special surprises. In addition, he will be signing his new book, Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick, authored by his good friend Dean Fait. You will be able to get yours at the show and have both Arnie and Dean sign it! Arnie is a true gentleman, always willing to share stories with his fans. Please plan on joining us in welcoming Arnie to MCACN. He will be appearing Saturday, November 20 and Sunday, November 21.
