MCACN 2021: Expect The Unexpected!
While the primary focus of the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show will always be the rarest and most desirable Muscle Cars of the 60's and 70's and the finest Corvettes, we always like to throw in a few "unexpected surprises" to keep the show interesting for everyone. I stress the word "everyone" because I know that sometimes a spouse or friend that may not be quite as car crazy as you and I comes along. We always like to set the tone with some really unique cars right in the main lobby, and this year we are taking it to the next level.
Something I am really excited about is shown above. No...it is far from being a "Muscle Car" but let me tell you, this is all about having fun! When Loren Baldwin was last with us, he was showing his gorgeous Cougar Eliminator. One of several prime Muscle Cars in his collection, he went on to tell me about something a "little different" he had at home that he thought might be fun for our lobby. With an unbridled passion for the Ghostbuster movie, he spent several years researching and eventually building what is undoubtedly the coolest and most spot-on Ecto-1 you will ever see. Each and every special light, all of the switches and every last detail...and it is all functional. Finding an original 1959 Miller Meteor "Limousine Duplex" was the first challenge, but Loren found one. I can not stress how much work went into it, all with incredible passion and enthusiasm. But wait...it gets even better! Loren didn't do this to make money. He works with a variety of Children's charities, and for us, he has teamed up with the Windy City Ghostbusters. This is a group of enthusiastic Ghostbuster fans who share their passion to raise awareness and funds for the La Rabida Children's Hospital. "At the end of the day, the thing that makes us feel the best is knowing we're helping sick kids" they state. And if we can help them spread their message while helping kids, we all win! The Windy City Ghostbusters will be welcoming everyone to the show, dressed in full authentic Ghostbuster garb!
BTW; the "new" Ghostbusters movie, Ghostbusters Afterlife, coincidentally opens the day before we open to the public, Friday November 19. You can walk over to the Rosemont AMC Dine In Theater to see it! Now, how's that for a lucky coincidence? I know I can't wait to take the Grandkids over there to see it!

We are required to notify our patrons that as s of 8/23/2021 all persons regardless of vaccination status (with a few exceptions) are required to wear masks at all indoor public venues in the State of Illinois.
