Joining Forces with the Gilmore Car Museum
Over the years we have had the honor of working directly with some of the finest Automotive Museums. Of course, first and foremost is The Brothers Collection, as seen in our MCACN Northwest Virtual show on YouTube that we launched in November, 2020. Without a doubt the finest and most diversified collection we have ever seen, it is always a true honor working with The Brothers Collection and being able to feature and unveil cars from their collection. If you haven't seen the show, click here to check it out: And then our good friends Tim and Pam Wellborn, a MCACN Official Sponsor, have the amazing Wellborn Muscle Car Museum in Alexander City, Alabama that is an absolute must see. The Detroit Historical Society has been a part of our show for several years now with our good friend Dave Marchione, with some incredible Concept Cars that are rarely shown. Last year the Oldsmobile Museum in Lansing, Michigan joined us and what an honor that was. And then we have The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan, midway between Detroit and Chicago.
Those of you who have been there know that this is among the finest and largest Automobile Museums in the world. You will find a number of theme based buildings throughout the beautiful, sprawling grounds and the presentation in each building is absolutely amazing. Row after row of full classics, including some beautiful Duesenberg's and Packard's, a building devoted specifically to Lincoln, pre-war and postwar and darn near everything else on wheels from the 1800's on up and so much more. But we're here to talk about American Muscle.
A while ago, Josh Russel was named Executive Director of the museum. What we witnessed was a new passion for not only the museum, but for Muscle Cars. Add the fact that a dedicated building is in the works entirely devoted to Muscle Cars, with huge support from several of our "regulars" and you can understand our excitement. As we got to know Josh, we discussed ways to promote both the museum and the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals. The decision was made to team up to produce a fun summertime event, right on the grounds of the Gilmore Car Museum. So if you ever needed another reason to see this place, now you have it!
The MCACN Muscle Car Meet Up will be a fun, family friendly event that focuses on American Muscle. To give it the true MCACN twist, we will be onsite with a display to talk about MCACN, and we plan on surrounding the display with 30 or more "hand-picked" examples of what the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show is all about. The central show field will be the base for this special display area, and we will personally assign the spots for these cars. Of course, just like the MCACN show, we are looking for prime examples that represent the "best of the best" of every make. If you have shown your car at MCACN or or are joining us in November, please consider being a part of this, Saturday, June 25. To be in the special display, email me at bashton426@gmail.com. We already have some outstanding MCACN award winners joining us, and we are looking for more!
For the main show, anyone with a cool Muscle Machine is invited to join us. Both early and modern muscle is welcome, stock or modified. Heck...we even plan on bringing out Ians Hornet! To read the Official Press Release, click here:
The MCACN Muscle Car Meet Up will take place Saturday, June 25, from 9 am - 4 pm. While a variety of "Pick" awards will be presented, this is not a Judged event, as we want to present a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The drive to the Gilmore is really nice, as it runs through the Michigan countryside and is easily accessible. A variety of food, including a neat menu from the Gilmore's 1941 replica diner will be available and it is an awesome place to picnic with the family. And of course, all of the museum buildings will be open!
As a fundraiser for the new Gilmore Muscle Car Museum, 100% of the show car registration proceeds will be directed to the construction of the planned mid century-modern 1960's dealership building right on the Gilmore campus, which will house the standalone Muscle Car Museum. In addition to the show, there will also be an onsite swap meet, live rock and roll music and radio broadcasts, curated backroads driving tours and more. Please consider joining us as a participant or as a spectator. To pre-register now, go to gilmorecarmuseum.org/events.
We are truly honored to be able to join forces with the Gilmore Car Museum for this all new and exciting event. If you have ever considered checking out the museum, this is another reason to make the trip. If you have been to the museum, you know it is a worthwhile trip, with or without the added benefit of the new MCACN Muscle Car Meet Up. The Gilmore Car Museum is a 501c3 non profit organization, located about 45 minutes south of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Their mission is to tell the history of America through the automobile. Check out GilmoreCarMuseum.org or call (269) 671-5089 for more information.
MCACN ENTRY CAR PICTURES: If you have officially registered for the upcoming Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, November 19-20, 2022, please send us some good, high quality photos of the car you will be showing. We are in the process of creating ads and preparing the new MCACN magazine now and we love to let people know what will be joining us. We post nearly every day on our facebook page and do regular e-blasts. The best pictures are always front and rear 3/4 views showing the entire car with all of the panels closed. Have the sun behind you when you shoot your pictures, and make sure the background is clean and there aren't any trees or light poles growing out of the car!
Stay Safe and get out here and Play!
