NATALIE DECKER AND DEREK LEMKE JOINING US AT THE MCACN SHOW
We like to encourage young people to be a part of our hobby, whether they are building and showing cars or racing them. For many of us, it started with two-wheels, thus we host our Muscle Bicycle and Mini Bike "Show Within the Show" Sponsored by Koolestuff. For others, it was Go-Karts that hooked us. And that is how it started for Natalie Decker and her fiance' Derek Lemke.
Today, 26 year old Natalie is making her mark in the NASCAR world in a big way. She has come a long way since she earned her first trophy when she was just 9 years old in her Go-Kart! And btw; that victory was witnessed by one of her many fans and MCACN alumnus, Bobby Unser! (RIP) She would then go on to earn two Oval Track Championships at the Shawana, Wisconsin Speedway. Early on Natalie set her sights high in the motorsports world. Today she is considered to be one of the top young drivers, which led to her recruitment to become a part of the NASCAR Drive For Diversity program, opening the door to a promising career. She was the CWSSA Super Stock champion and has had success in the Limited Late Model division, where she won one race and had two more podium finishes. She later earned Rookie of the Year honors in the Triple Crown Super Truck Series. Yes...this lady can drive!
A Pole Position and 5th place finish in the ARCA series at Daytona International Speedway and her road course debut at Road America in the Trans Am series followed, along with more NASCAR Truck series races and the highest finish ever for a female driver in the series. She then moved on to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2021 and took home the SGT Pro Am Championship in the Trans Am series. She is also The Arthritis Foundations Champion Ambassador! In 2022 she took home a win and secured 5th place overall in the GT Audi R8 at her home track, Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Trans Am series. NASCAR Xfinity races are among her many goals for the future.
Derek Lemke is an up and coming driver in the world of Stock Car racing. He also happens to be Natalie's fiance', as they will be getting married on News Years Eve. Natalie and Derek met when they were kids at the Go-Kart track, and even competed against each other. "He has never beaten me!" she jokingly stated. Attending dirt track races with his father, he set his sights on becoming a full time racer. He moved to North Carolina to pursue his dream, enrolled in racing schools and gained experience at various tracks and different classes.
He would soon climb the NASCAR ladder and caught the eye of a Truck Series team owner that recognized his talent. It would be the Richmond Raceway where Derek would get his introduction to NASCAR. Behind the wheel of the #43 truck, he proved to be determined and passionate. Battling with seasoned professionals, he quickly earned their praise and respect. Derek is known as a future star of the sport and he is just getting started! Of course, his ultimate goal is to join the ranks of the NASCAR Cup Series, perhaps one day lining up right next to his future bride.
We are honored to be able to host Natalie and Derek at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show this year. They will be with us both Saturday and Sunday, meeting fans and signing autographs. Plan on joining us and bring the kids, as this NASCAR "Power Couple" certainly epitomize how the younger generation IS enthusiastic about our hobby, and as you can see here, proving that it is possible to turn your dreams into reality.
