The Nationals Returns to National Trail Raceway This Week
This is another week where we wish we could be in several places at the same time. There are so many ways to be a part of our great hobby! The one thing I know is that every year, The Nationals is a must-do event to spread the word about what we do at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, August 9-11. You see, every year in August, thousands of Mopar aficionados ascend upon the National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio, outside of Columbus, to show, swap and race their Mopars of every generation. And this marks the 43rd year for this event. WHEW...how did that happen? As a side note, I have made it to 42 of them, and hope to make many more. Geeez....am I that old? (Answer is obviously yes.)
This event takes on a unique personality, as there is non-stop drag racing. The show field hosts cars and trucks of every generation and several cool displays. Like MCACN, The Nationals will be recognizing the 50th Anniversary of the 1974 model year. They will also spotlight the Barracudas and 'cuda's. We always find some great cars for our show and meet plenty of "new" folks. Of course, the best part may be reconnecting with old friends, some who we only see here and in November!
So what will we be looking for? Well...certainly some 1974 model year cars and since we are the final stop for the A12 Reunion, we are sure to find some more good ones! For me, one of the neatest aspects of The Nationals is that there are always some truly unexpected surprises, and (hint-hint) you will be seeing one of them right beside our display. Not going to say what it is right now, so plan on seeing our big display right across from The Nationals check-in/memorabilia tent in the main midway. Look for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals banners and don't forget, we also host the Model Car contest, with FREE entry on Saturday! I will have some of the In Search of the WINGED Holy Grail Books along with some of our MCACN Official Event Cars. MCACN MAGAZINE: Not sure about you, but I am one who likes to actually touch and feel real pages of a paper magazine. Sure you can get the same information online, (and we do that with our magazine also!) but holding a real magazine in your hands is a different experience. PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES! They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If you are officially entered in the MCACN show we want to show the world what they can see at the show. Please send me as many GOOD QUALITY photos of your vehicle. Hoods and doors closed, front and rear 3/4 views and no telephone poles growing out of the roof please. Blue sky is always nice and please make sure that ALL of the car is shown, with nothing cut off. Also if you have vintage or "before" pictures of your car, that is always cool. Send pics to bashton426@gmail.com. We use these pictures for various promotional purposes which can include our magazine, facebook, ads, instagram, postcards, flyers and more.
The work never stops year 'round here, and summer is always way too short. We always try to spend some quality time with our families during the summer and that gets tougher as we get closer to show time. Hope all is going smoothly with your MCACN show plans and if you haven't already, book your hotel rooms now!
