Mopar Nationals Returns to Columbus Area

Most of you know I am kind of a Mopar guy. I grew up surrounded by Mopars, as Dad was a V.P. at Chrysler. As I said last week, we had a wide variety of Mopar Muscle in the garage in those days. GTX's, Roadrunner convertibles, several Dart GTS's, a Demon 340, a Duster 340 and a very special Challenger R/T convertible to name a few. Perhaps that is where my love of American Muscle started.

This week we again head to National Trail Raceway in Reynoldsburg, Ohio for the big Mopar Nationals event. While it may not be as humongous as it once was, I still love this event. It has become kind of a homecoming, as I get to see many friends that I only see once (or hopefully twice when we meet again at MCACN!) and many that I have known for over 30 years. I get to see some of my old Auto Know customers and then there are the cars. Row after row of just about anything Mother Mopar built and the swap is still strong too. We have a BIG display on the midway, where I get to spread the word about the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals and also, this is the one place where I dig deep into the archives of the old Auto Know store. Thousands of ads and brochures, tons (literally) of vintage magazines, thousands of old Johnny Lightnings and Hot Wheels and a bunch of Promo Models. And then there are the deep dive collectibles; I always surprise myself with what is in the boxes in my basement. This is stuff that hasn't seen the light of day for a long time, especially since we missed The Nationals last year.

They have rearranged the layout of the midway, so look for us in the row closest to the grandstands in spots A 19-20. We will again host the Mopar Nationals Model Car Contest on Saturday. This year to keep the ball rolling, we will have NO ENTRY FEE. Yep...entry for the Model Car Contest is gratis, and we will present trophies in NINE classes for Kids and Adults, Stock and Modified along with Diorama and Miscellaneous so we cover whatever may show up. Bring one model or a whole table full! The Mopar Collectors Guide folks will be shooting the models for an upcoming full feature, and Kevin and Dale return as our seasoned Judges. Hoping to FILL the tables, so if you have 'em, bring 'em!

MCACN Hotel Update: Yes, the DoubleTree and the Embassy Suites are sold out, (as expected), but not to worry! Since we have FIVE Official Host Hotelsas of today we have availability at The aLoft, the Crowne Plaza and the newly added Hilton. Use the direct booking links, as they allow for the great MCACN rates along with extra perks exclusive to us. And ALL of our Official Host Hotels are convenient to the show, with four right across the street and the aLoft offering free door to door shuttle service. Use this link to book your rooms now:

Car Entry: Yes...we are indeed FULL at this point. We do have a "Standby" list in case we get any cancellations. To be on the list, you must apply with pictures and information, as I will fill any open spots with the best of the best! To be on the standby list, send your info and pics to bashton426@gmail.com.

VENDOR Entry; We have limited Commercial "B" space available at just $250.00 per 10 x12' spot. Must be automotive related, so if you sell siding, are a "heads-set hawker" or represent a travel agency or a Pull-up Challenge, please don't waste our time because we are going to say no. We do welcome all automotive related products or services vendors. Having automotive related vendors is like watching a show without commercials, no products or services you don't need to see at a car show.

SELL Your Collectible Car at MCACNWe have a few more VIP Car For Sale spots in the center hall available for $250.00 per car and availability in our Car Corral at the back of the big room for just $100.00 per spot. Car Corral moves in on Saturday before we open. You must apply for this also, as we want to keep the quality of the cars high in the show, even in the Car Corral.

Well...time to get out there and finish loading the trailer. It is already full, but I'm sure I can squeeze in a few more treasures!

Be Safe, Be Nice and LIVE EVERY DAY to the Fullest!
