MCACN Participants Will Shine at Concours d'Elegance of America

This week is one I look forward to all year long. As a member of team for the Concours d'Elegance of America at St. John, (formerly known as the Meadowbrook Concours), I get an inside look at what it takes to produce one of the finest Concours events in the world. Yes, this one ranks right up there with Pebble Beach and Amelia Island, and I am proud to be a part of it. So how does this all apply to the MCACN show? Well...allow me to explain.

First off, we will have a MCACN display in the midway to promote and introduce our show to a lot of people. I am sure we will see lots of old friends and I am sure we will meet people that have never heard of our event. Vicki will be in the MCACN booth Sunday, (I'll be running around all over the place and checking in on a regular basis!) so make a point of saying Hello. Now for those of us into good old fashioned American Muscle, be prepared because we have a stellar lineup!

Keeping with my practice of telling a story, my American Muscle category will feature Seventeen 1969 model year cars. And what a lineup it is! Of course, you will see some familiar cars and faces, as the entire group is made up of true MCACN supporters and participants. You'll see one of Brent and Jeff Kultgens 69.5 440-6 Super Bees, Tom Marcucci's all original and unrestored L/88 Corvette, Bruce Barties black 440-6 barrel Roadrunner, Ken Nagel's Pinnacle Award winning Boss 429, Larry and Rachelle Weymouth's Trans Am, Tim Schell's ZL1 Camaro, Tony Bonafides W30 Oldsmobile 442, Phil Michell's Ram Air IV Firebird convertible, Phil Wojnarowski's Hugger Orange COPO Chevelle and Grady Burch's L78 Nova. Adding to the lineup with some cars you'll see at the next MCACN show is a first time shown 426 Hemi Daytona from The Brothers Collection, (Restored by Level One), Larry and Rachelle Weymouth's beautiful black AMX, Ken Bognar's G.S. Stage 1 convertible, Richard Gottleib's recently acquired 440 M-Code Barracuda, Tom Abrams black GTO Judge and Patrick Biase's Daytona Yellow over Yellow houndstooth Z/28. And to add some fun to the mix, Tom Abrams will also be bringing in the very real Super Cat 428 Cobra Jet Cougar, which you will see this year in our MCACN Ford and Mercury Total Performance display.

But wait...there's more! We are also hosting a very special separate display featuring Cars of Hurst. Kevin Shope will join us with his truly outstanding SC/Rambler that was unveiled with us in November, in the Nash Nutz Invitational,  and direct from The Brothers Collection are two more past MCACN Official Unveiling cars; the Prototype 1969 Hurst/Olds and the 1969 Hurst Olds convertible! Add in several more from the Badgely Collection and several others and you have yet another outstanding lineup of American Muscle. Oh...and my good friend George Hansen will be joining us with the show stopping '59 Bonneville convertible you saw at MCACN last year in our American Postwar category.

Of course we love the Muscle, but with over 300 of the world's finest collectible cars and motorcycles from the 1900's on up, there truly is something for everyone. Ferrari and Rolls Royce are among the featured marques this year, and you'll see Bugati's, Duesenberg's, Packards and so much more. All kinds of exotic sports cars, right up to a LeFerrari will be on the course, a Rise and Fall of the Cadillac Fins group and did I mention, the brand new 2020 Corvette will be there? There will also be a seminar about the development of the new Corvette, with those directly involved in the project presenting the facts Saturday.

There are all kinds of activities happening Friday and Saturday with the big event Sunday. Seminars, the Motor City Mingle, the fun Concours d'Lemons, the Battle of the Brands and an open Cruise Saturday morning to name a few. And let's not forget the art showing, (you'll see David Snyder) and charity memorabilia auction! As I often say, I could go on and on!

Check out the Concours website at www.concoursusa.org to get the full schedule of events, directions and all the information you need. Believe me when I say...this is an absolute must do event. And in case you are wondering, yes, some will be dressed to the nines, but many will be in shorts and T-shirts, (especially in the Muscle Car area! lol) so c'mon out. The Inn at St. Johns is a beautiful place for this event and worth the trip just to see their chapel.

Hope you will join us!

Special Thanks go out to all of you that are traveling from across the country and Canada to join us. We have an absolutely incredible lineup of 1969 Muscle Cars and that is just one part of this event.
