YOUNG ENTHUSIASTS SHARE THEIR PASSION AT THE MCACN SHOW

We've all heard it from the nay-sayers; do you really think there is any future in our hobby? Well...I am here to say absolutely, and it is our job to make sure this is true. And the MCACN team isn't just blowing smoke, as we have some really neat stuff going on to not only encourage younger folks to be a part of the hobby, but some real incentive, thanks to some of our incredibly generous MCACN supporters.

First, I am pleased to announce we have our largest field ever of car owning participants that are under 25 years old. The diversity of the group is pretty amazing, with everything from a wild 1940 Chevy street rod to the super sharp AMC Hornet shown above, to several cars that are perhaps not super pretty, but certainly cool. When it comes to passion, you will never meet anyone more into the hobby than these young men and ladies. Hands-on? Absolutely! And in most cases, their participation started with parents (or Grandparents) inviting them to join them out in the garage. I know it worked for me by taking Ian, and now my Grandkids, to car shows and swap meets, and handing them the occasional wrench now and then. Fortunately, several of them really love it and understand just how into this I am. This year we have our second 14 year old car owner, (Krzysztof Kozlowski now was our first with his '65 Barracuda!) and his first car is something very special. He is the proud new caretaker of a very real, 1 of 3 1969 Hurst/Olds convertibles. You saw the one from The Brothers Collection unveiled with us several years ago. Well...this one recently changed hands and the new owner has big plans to make it as beautiful as the one in The Brothers Collection. You'll see it PRE-restoration this year in our Class of 1969 Invitational display, Presented by NCM Insurance.

So speaking of supporting our message, Kelly and Dave Molnar are again stepping up by awarding a complete Miller welding package to one of our participants, Valued at well over $1,000.00, this includes a Miller welder, gloves and a helmet. Everything you need to weld darn near anything! Our past recipients were blown away by Kelly and Dave's generosity, and one of them actually uses one for his mobile welding unit that he has taken on Power Tour and Drag Week! Great job Nathaniel, aka Spyder Garage!

ALL of our participants in our Future Generation group are eligible, which means one of them is going home with a complete welder package. Thanks go out to Dave and Kelly; their generosity is only overshadowed by their own passion and enthusiasm!

Please make a point of meeting these young folks, hearing their stories and checking out their cars. We will again host our Future Generation Panel Discussion, Hosted by John Kraman Saturday at 2:00 pm on the awards stage. All of our young participant/car owners will be joining us along with some additional young enthusiasts that will prove that the future indeed IS bright for our hobby, and we need to embrace this fact.

And then we have the Nostalgia Pro Stock group, led by Mike Ruth. Mike shares our passion for encouraging participation from younger enthusiasts and he's doing something about it. Last year they were one of the stops for our Youth Judging program. Mikes Pro Stock Fairmont was opened up and they supplied drivers suits and helmets for the kids to try on. Everyone was encouraged to get into Mike's car for an awesome photo-op and was it ever cool! The Nostalgia Pro Stock group will do this again , but that's not all. They will also be hosting several JR. Dragsters and their drivers. Another super fun way to get kids involved, and several of these drivers will be joining our Panel Discussion Saturday.

YOUTH JUDGING, Presented by NCM Insurance: This is another way to get kids directly involved. Led by Gary Kozlowski and his now 15 year old car owning Son Krzysztof, this FREE program gives kids a behind the scenes look. We have various car owners who share their cars with the kids and the Kozlowski's point out what the Judges look for, why the cars are special and they get to meet the owners. This hands-on experience may just be how we plant the seed for our own future Judges! Kids get an Official Youth Judge T-Shirt, a backpack filled with cool treasures and an experience we hope they will never forget. They will choose FOUR winners who will be presented a special Youth Judges Pick award. You can sign your kids up now to ensure your spot or join us at the show if we have enough openings!

"Make and Take" Model Building Area Sponsored by Auto World

Add in our Muscle Bicycle and Mini Bike Shows Within the Show, Presented by Koolestuff, Hot Wheels Racing, our just for fun coloring contest, the Model Car Make & Take, Sponsored by Auto World and more. And of course, all of these activities are 100% FREE, as is Admission for kids 12 and under with an Adult.
So if you know of a Kid (which is anyone under 25 to me!) please plan on bringing them along and immersing them into what an awesome hobby we all love so much. The Future Looks Bright, and we intend on doing everything we can to make that light continue to shine!
