YES...The Future Looks Bright! Meet Chloe Japczyk

I hear it all the time. Kids aren't into this hobby, what are you going to do when the enthusiasts age out? Or there is no future for us, as all the young people aren't into cars. Well I'm here to tell you that isn't the case if you are paying attention! Allow us to introduce you to Chloe Japczyk, who is joining us this year from Arkansas with her very own 1965 Olds Cutlass. I'm going to let Chloe tell her story, as she can certainly do it better than me!

"I am 16 currently, turning 17 in August. The '65 wasn’t my first Olds, my dad actually brought home a '67 for us to restore as my first car when I was around 10-11. Long story short, it needed a LOT of work that we did not have time for. That’s when he showed me a marketplace ad for a '65 Cutlass up in Minnesota that had been started. I think I was around 12 at that time? It belonged to a widow whose husband had recently passed away. She was just trying to get rid of it. The car came with a built 455 and gorgeous paint which is basically what sold us. It was basically just a body and out of car engine. It needed chrome, interior, suspension, the engine dropped in it, drivetrain, brakes, clutch and lots of other small tweaks we are still figuring out. The rear end was a very low gear (we believe the car was meant to be a drag car) so we eventually had to change the rear end out as well if I wanted to drive it on the highway comfortably. The motor was also previously dyno’d at around 470 horsepower and 300-400 something torque? I can’t remember the exact specs it’s been a while since I looked. We put a Tremec tkx 5 speed in it as well."

"I think I’ve had the car for 4 years at this point? It’s been on the road for around 2 years of that. It’s mainly just been a father daughter project that we worked on when we had time, plus various “old guys” that helped us drop the engine."
Now how's that for a bit of inspiration? Chloe and her Dad will be joining us and participating in our Future Generation Panel Discussion. Chloe is definitely "hands-on" and isn't afraid of getting her hands dirty, They joined us last year as spectators and had the chance to meet some of our other Future Generation participants. We are truly honored to have her joining us and sharing her car and her passion with us.

Future Generation Participants 2025

If YOU are a younger enthusiast (say 25 or under) and would like to help us show that there really is a future for our awesome hobby, please send pictures of your car or truck and your story. The vehicle does not have to be shiny and in fact, can even be "in progress" as long as it is your blood, sweat and tears that are getting or keeping it on the road. Email bashton426@gmail.com with your story for consideration, as we would love to have you join us and to share your passion. We will again host our Meet The Future Panel discussion where we introduce you to the young men and ladies that are making it happen and proving that there really is a lot of passion among the younger crowd!
